Yeah, these are often the people that grumble about women having rights while they crush beer cans in their heads. The supreme assholes are the ones driving $50k+ vehicles with a little black and white flag with a blue stripe. These are the creepy ass country club motherfuckers that own businesses and have racist agendas that actually affect people due to their high status in society.
Yeah, I'm generalizing a lot here (aren't we all?) but by and large those are dog whistle symbols for hatred.

My friend and I bought trucks around the same time. Mine is a simple tradesman Ram, no bells and whistles, primarily for moving and hauling stuff that can't fit in my wife's sedan.

My friend had a similar personality when he first got his Tundra (of course with all the extras he can afford). Then he goes and spends $10,000 on a lift, winch, and floodlights. Now he's like a different person. He drives super aggressively, whipping round corners, weaving through traffic going 20mph over on the highway. He was driving me through some quiet neighborhood the other day and nearly mowed over a cyclist. I asked him what the hell he was doing and he shrugged and said "if she's gonna ride a bike in the street, she's gotta look out for trucks. Not my fault if she doesn't see me"
TL;DR - truck drivers are fine, a truck is a tool like any other vehicle. Lifting your truck turns you into a redneck scumbag overnight though apparently.

Truth is that mine (BMW X1) is at most 5cm bigger in any dimension, if at all, than the car on which it is based (Mini Cooper). The extra size is an optical illusion.

- That's similar to why I hav an SUV. My dad has mobility issues and has a scooter to help him get around. The SUV is higher off the ground making it easier to get in and out while the larger cargo space can hold the scooter and anything else (groceries, luggage, etc).
- Also - the mass and form of an SUV makes them a good option in terms of safety. Smaller vehicles get crunched like pop cans, and trucks get sandwiched by their own bed if you hit a solid object.

Anything that makes VRROOOOOOM VROOOOOM noises when it doesn't need to is almost certainly driven by an asshole.

NL here: Imported American trucks. You do not need a car that costs €5000/month in fuel alone that you cannot use practically in any way that a van, a regular car or even a bakfiets could do more cost-effectively. The only people who go through the effort to get such a vehicle are compensating for something, and a Dodge Ram in The Netherlands is only useful for dick measuring, and the most significant thing it'll ever move is the owner's fragile ego.

- In my experience Lexus is more deserving than Tesla. Most Lexus drivers I come across on the road follow the laws pretty well and use a signal, but the people I've met in person who drove them were assholes. This may just be confirmation bias but it seems like the majority of cars that pull out in front of me forcing me to break when they could have just waited 2 seconds for me to pass seem to be pickup trucks. Bonus points with last weeks one to do that which was also 1) driven by an elderly couple 2) swerveing all over the road, 3) driving 5 miles below speed limit, 4) had unsecured items in the back.

They do make mini-trucks which are much better for fuel mileage while having the benefits of a work truck, but like you said these people aren't buying them with fuel mileage or practicality in mind.

The tesla autopilot feature drives like an asshole too. If I'm in the HOV lane with no one behind me and I see a Tesla coming up in the rear view, I know that's it going to come bombing up behind me at 90 MPH and not slow down until it's like ten feet away. As someone who has been rear ended on the freeway like that, it makes my butthole pucker every time.

- Because it hasn't been answered. It's a very subjective question, so there is no final answer.
  I get that cops are seen as corrupt pigs in some countries, but in some others they're trusted and respected. I have seen American police and 99% of them are awful people. But in my country I have only ever had pleasant experiences with the police, and public opinion of them is mostly positive. (Was speeding, got pulled over, told to drive safely and that the cop could see I'm not drunk and was being aware, then wished good night and let go.)

I think the hate for Hummers has died down simply because you just don't see them around very often anymore.

In Germany every asshole drives an BMW, but not every BMW driver is an asshole. It's a German brand so they much cheaper than in America because there are no import costs. Yes, they still are substantially more expensive than a VW but there are much more a car every other German drives than something special. If we only talk about the higher end models - sure.

In the UK, BMW drivers were notorious for being the most aggressive and least polite on the roads of the 80s and 90s. In recent years Audi have stolen that crown, thanks to slick marketing and product placement. This brand attracts superficial and insecure cretins like a magnet and the ecosystem is rife with fraudulent behaviour. The used car market is a minefield of manipulated odometers and stolen vehicles.

I got upgraded from my usual generic Mercedes C-Class rental car to a BMW 5-Series on one of my trips to Germany. I instantly felt 10% more assholish as soon as I got into it. I even managed to get a speeding ticket within the first 10km or so - camera caught me going 8km/h over the limit in a construction zone, I think on the A67. The fine was only something like €20.
I usually make a conscious effort to not drive like an asshole, especially when I'm traveling, although for some countires driving like an asshole is mandatory.

In Australia it's ute (pickup) drivers. If it's a faded mustard colour it's an ancient farmer driving 30 km/h below the speed limit in a no-overtaking area. If it's bright red it's the farmer's grandchild driving at 30 km/h above the speed limit as he* overtakes you in a no-overtaking area.

Honestly, one of the nicest guys I have ever known is a retired copper.

He joined up in the 60s as a smelly hippy (his words) to "bring the system down from the inside". Very quickly discovered he could change peoples' lives for the better and retired 45 years later having considered his career a success.

Wait, what? Backing a truck in makes it a lot easier and safer to leave (better visibility of traffic and pedestrians). It has little to no effect on anybody else other than maybe having to wait for them to back in.

Remember the time the combat parked vehicle almost didn't see you when leaving the grocery store parking lot? Me neither.
When I drove a company van for work, they forced me to park like that. Their reasoning was it's too hard to see to back out and could lead to accidents. Which never made sense, because backing into a space has the same issue if the space is flanked by two parked cars and I can't see well enough behind me to line it up.
- Backing in is safer because you have better visibility at the critical moment when you need to block another lane while backing up.
- You can see both sides on the mirrors so it's almost impossible to hit the cars next to you and it's very unlikely there's someone standing behind you on the parking space.
  Fender benders on a grocery store parking lot when backing out is probably the most common type of road accident.

Bicycle.

Yesterday while driving on a two lane road with a bike lane there were two people on bikes. What appeared to be a man and a woman in full brightly colored garb and helmets. Both were weaving in the bike lane and/or riding on the dividing line between the bike lane and the road. At one point, as a few cars were approaching them from behind, one of them whips over into the center of the road for no reason other than to block traffic thereby forcing the overtaking cars into the oncoming traffic lane. There was no obstruction on the bike lane. The other rider proceeded with weaving about unpredictably. She simply couldn't stand the idea of someone safely passing them and forced an unsafe condition for everyone involved....

I pray that every bike she every rides has a slow leak in both tires no matter how often it is patched or replaced. The more time she spends off the road pumping up the tires, the less time she is endangering herself and others.

This is such a strange perspective. I'm not a bike rider, but never understand people's issues with bikers, joggers, or anything on the road besides cars. Sure, assholes are everywhere, but nearly every biker? That has not been even close to my experience, and I mostly see cars/trucks being unnecessarily aggressive towards bikers and runners.
- We are in a rehashed weekly askreddit topic to lump people together and collectively hate them, idk what you expect.
- I live in an area with a lot of paved bike trails.... made specifically for bikes, walkers, and joggers to have a SAFE place away for automobile traffic to enjoy their outdoor activity. Also there are bike lanes along side many main roads. The issue is the asshole that isn't using the provided bike lane and intentionally blocking the main automobile lane while weaving unpredictably thereby making it unsafe to pass.
  Driving down the road and a farmer on a tractor pulls out with a trailer loaded down with hay going 5 mph.... that's an annoyance but he's got work to do and NEEDS to get where he's going.... sucks to be caught behind him but whatever he's gonna get off the road eventually.
  An asshole on a bike unnecessarily whipping over in front of a line of cars for no reason other than to be an asshole.... that's not acceptable behavior that's a self important entitled asshole. Blocking traffic for LOLs is a dangerous game to play.
For pulling out into the lane, it may have been called "taking primary".
If the road is not wide enough to pass them safely, that is the best place to be. That way drivers cannot try and squeeze through. Obviously, I cannot speak for the precise road conditions where this happened, but it is legitimate in certain circumstances. Traffic calming is a good example, as it makes the lane too small for a safe overtake. Add in the fact that most cycle lanes in cities are more dangerous than the main carriageway and you can see why cyclists will take the prime quite often.
- That's where the problem lies..... in that particular area the bike lane is plenty wide enough for two bikes to ride side by side and the main roadway, in both directions, is plenty wide enough to not crowd the bike lane. No reason whatsoever for her to move out of the unencumbered bike lane and block the automobile lane which forced everyone attempting to overtake into the oncoming lane. It WASN'T a no passing double line so it was a safe place to take the oncoming traffic lane if it is empty of traffic. She was clearly playing stupid games. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes or fuck around and find out both apply and if she keeps up with that type of action then most certainly some day she will find out what winning a prize is all about. Of course the automobile driver will be the one at fault for driving in the main traffic lane and not avoiding the asshole on a bike.
