  • nope. in most cases streaming works well enough but we do have many on a hard drive from the included itunes.

  • Canada’s standard of living on track for worst decline in 40 years
  • Oh sure for current inflation but everything post 2000 is a house of cards. stock prices completely deviated from earnings as they turned into value holds and income was pulled out via debt.

  • Would you support a mandatory retirement age of 75 for US House, US Senate & US Supreme Court Justices and if not why?
  • certainly. even lower. Some people can be vigorous in their seventies but they are not the majority, 50's many go down. That is one problem with raising the retirement age in general. There is only a subset that can keep working as age goes up.

  • Justice Alito sold Bud Light stock amidst anti-trans boycott effort
  • Totally agree. This is not exactly a good example in impropriety but I don't see why holding office should not restrict holders investments to broad total market index funds and bond funds.

  • The Offspring, The Beastie Boys, Van Halen w/DLR, and the B52s. Are there other bands that rock, but are often silly/goofy and funny?
  • Im more a stan ridgeway fan than wall of voodoo. I remember picking up a cassette way back and was very disapointed and did not understand what happened. Its only decades later that I found out. Its like tull and ian anderson for me even though the band has never not had him hes pretty much the influence I like. ironically im not wild about his solo stuff. I find he really needs some good artists to keep him grounded. Stan on the other hand, I like his solo stuff.

  • Canada’s standard of living on track for worst decline in 40 years
  • This is very true. This century we are pretty much hitting the limits of growth and globally the response has been to hit the accelerator.

  • Netris is an open-source cloud gaming platform with Stadia-like features using Proton

  • We’re letting Trump distract us from his corrupt, anti-climate agenda | There is a strange, substantive vacuum in this campaign cycle.
  • nope. usual supply and demand at play. same as you won't pay more if they have an idea that you can pay more. The salesman may try but ultimately the price is the same.

  • The Mac vs. PC war is back on?
  • Im talking about the time when mac enthusiasts would brag about how many more ports a macbook had over a windows laptop. I use the term just because when they went minimalist design coincided when the apple store started acutally said they would not deal with something which was the cable losing their casing which did end up being a design issue so they handled it later but previous to that they would never not do something unless it was obvious you took a hammer to it or something. my last mac was the macbook pro erra with the dvd-i port.

  • I'm so sick of every single medical-related question people have online constantly getting spammed with 'talk to your doctor!!!!'
  • I was initially going to upvote this but the fact is that if someone cannot go to a doctor and get something resolved they will look elsewhere. Whether its a failure of the medical system or limitations of our medical technology there are many reasons someone cannot get treatment or even advice. That being said if one has access to speak to a doctor that should always be their first action.

  • is this muslim argument accurate? "we can't doubt god testing us because it is gayeb (cannot be perceived or known by humans), something that only allah knows for example: children dying at birth"
  • We can't doubt that satan tests us with the creation of the false abrahamic religions because it is something that only satan knows.

  • The Mac vs. PC war is back on?
  • I loved macs back when it was more maximalist design and its service was beyond reproach. anyone buying a pc might be installing linux on it. not that many vendors specific to linux.

  • How is the prom experience for everyone?
  • driveways? dresses? your into some wierd shit but I don't judge. Its great for me. could not be a better time for it. Its like a golden age for it. Wait. thats an m not an n and you have r bfore the o. oh. woops. my bad.

  • Fourth Amendment Is Not For Sale Act, preventing data broker sales to government agencies, moves forward
  • so much agree. Why do we even allow data brokers? How about something like an entitiy cannot collect information that is not necessary to conduct the business it is in and cannot sell or provide that information to any other entity outside of the one they collected the information from which must be provided free upon request.

Is there a way to message a user?

I have not seen an option so replying to a thread seems to be the only way that I can tell.

url link blocking. What happened to it.

So when someone submitted a url at least at one point it would show up on the right and you could block it. So if someone posted a newsweek link you could block any link postings from like newsweek.com or maybe reddit.com or google.com. Lately though I have not been able to. It seemed to disapear at some point. I have not seen it as an option in a long time.

    Reporting?

So im pretty happy with users just being able to block and control things themselves but there has been posts from this somali call girls account where I feel like the extra step of reporting is warranted.

Looking for the word or phrase that means how many barrels of oil we produce from one barrel of oil.

Question is in title. My searching is actually rather disturbing this morning as the results are fillled with industry fud and not what im looking for. What im really trying to find is a graph of oil produced historically because I recall we used to get something like a 50 barrel return but now we get single digits.

Edited - thanks for the info. kbin has an issue or at least my account does for some magazines where I can't see any replies when logged in so I can see it from a non logged in browser but can't reply so im replying in my post. EROI fits what I was looking for but if anyone finds a nice historical chart for it specifically with oil that would be great but with the EROI term I think I will be able to find it.

Search engine that defaults to open street map?

I tend to use maps from a search browser and it suddenly occurred to me that if the search engine I used defaulted to open street maps I would use it. Do any search engines default map searches to open street maps?

    View users block lists.

I sorta hate this request as it seems invasive but I was thinking about folks in the future and even myself now and I was thinking I would love to see what folks that I have subscribed to have blocked. I don't subscribe to a person unless Im really impressed by what they post or their discourse so its like a trusted list of users for me. That made me think I would love to see how they have blocked so I could look at it and see if it looks like an obvious person or place I would want to block.

Chicken grown from animal cells, not from slaughtered birds, can now be sold in the U.S. The Agriculture Department issued approvals Wednesday to California firms Upside Foods and Good Meat to sell the products, known as “lab-grown” or “cultivated” meat. The meat is grown in steel tanks, using cells that come from a living animal, a fertilized egg or a special bank of stored cells. The goal is to eliminate harm to animals and drastically reduce the environmental impacts of raising them. The meat will initially be sold only at upscale restaurants.
