I have known 2 women who were a conventional "10". They picked and chose who they wanted based upon success, money, reputation etc. It all fell apart. They're both in their 50s now. Unmarried, unhappy, realising that the looks never got them what they thought would make them happy. The guys they rejected moved on, settled and compromised in that wholesome way rather than any "simp" way, and are all happily married, successful.

The problem guys like this have is that if they were honest: their goal isn't a girlfriend and/or a reciprocal romantic partner. They just want to hookup.

Certainly there's nothing wrong with only wanting casual sex but the problem is that if all you actually want is a shallow purely physical relationship without any sort of emotional strings then all you actually can bring to the table by definition is your looks.

Ie: if you only engage with women on a purely superficial shallow level entirely centered around raw physical attraction then quit acting shocked and chagrined when that's how they respond in kind.
