I have a friend who proudly claims to be a Christian Republican and that being gay is a sin and wrong. Then he will say in the same breath that he is gay and mean it. I have never seen something of the sort and it nearly shorts my wires. Idk what's going on there but its the same vibe.
Christians are really, really good at seeing themselves at the good guys no matter the circumstances. They just kind of ignore that the only reason they're the dominant religion in the world is that they murdered most of their enemies over two millennia.
It's not even originally in the Bible's earliest translations to prohibit gay sex, originally it just condemned pedophilic sex and attraction and it was changed to target gay people instead of the church's own clergy.
In the text about Sodom and Gomorra the way I understand it God is punishing them for wanting to rape the angel or whoever it was who's sleeping there. Not for it being a gay act when men rape a man.
You also can't mix fabrics, or do anything strenuous on Saturday. And you're allowed to both own and beat your slaves so long as when you do so, they don't die.
It's insanely fucked up if you read the entire thing. Like, religious people are typically fine with me, I don't tell them this stuff even if they do want to discuss it... But I read the Bible through a few times as a kid, and every since then I've had a healthy fear of Christians that both believe, and regularly read their Bible.
If they just go to church, that's fine. Most churches cherry pick only the good verses (although let's be real, very few Christians follow the good stuff anyway.)
The outright lie of "hate the sin, not the sinner," has poisoned the minds of so many people.
I bet your friend lies to himself every day in an attempt to "live a straight lifestyle." Literally trying to be someone he is not.
Growing up in an Evangelical church, and looking back, it was everywhere. Some of the nicest folks (usually even parents of friends) were SO OBVIOUSLY GAY. I think the one or two I'm thinking of even came out years after I left the church and I remember feeling so happy for them.
So one of my teachers for 5th and 6th grade had a wife and two daughters. Very Christian. It was only when we got a little older in junior high school that we realized holy shit Mr S is so gay. It was obvious in retrospect. He was a real powertripping asshole, and thinking back on it I wonder if that behavior came from not letting himself be his true self.
The fear in his eyes becomes palpable as he blames the Democrats for his heart attack with his dying breath, slumping unceremoniously into his Big Mac.
I see trump as more of a toilet death. I see him slumped against the sink, with people crying and tweeting, but no one thinking to move him for dignity, too busy filming their blackmail videos against his legacy.
Damn. Honestly? No. Even if he died tomorrow of natural causes, or something seemingly obvious or straightforward, you know that story would be spun a dozen different ways and he would come out as a martyr/savior/god king or whatever in each one.
I'm not sure I would believe it, on the news articles alone. "Trump incinerated by Biden on capital steps" or " McDonald's smashes trump's throat" are titles I would expect on any old Tuesday
Unless they are very wealthy or massive corruption happens, they will eventually receive benefits amounting to more than the extra taxes. They are likely short-sighted or driven by propaganda.
I mean talking about double face palming and just not wanting to take your hands off your face anymore. Blacks for Trump! Jews for Hitler! Let's just all go full retard and get it over with.
They're rooting for it by reposting a meme that wordplays with "2024" and "1942–2024", not in a professional capacity.
Last year, the organization named Isabella Riley Moody – a rightwing troll who has called gay people “groomers,” supported Uganda’s “Kill the Gays” law, and declared “Heil Hitler” – as one of their “Outspoken Ambassadors for 2023.”
The Log Cabin Republicans later removed her from their website.
Oh Log Cabin Republicans, never change, even when you're laying on the ground, bleeding out because your fellow Republican decided to glass your head in after a night of drinking because you're gay.
