An anti trans person that usually is stealing trans valor. There are other and more useful ways to consider it. However no one being annoying on Twitter is going to be one of the thoughtful cases.
"Desister" is someone who identified as trans at one point, did not undergo any medical treatments for it, and then returned to being cis. I think. It's like, detrans, but with extra trans-medicalism.
- There have been a lot of cases online of people identifying as such, then espousing transphobia from a position of "I was trans once so I know it's bad" which is not only really shitty, but opens up a whole big can of worms about "who's really trans" that can delve deep into talk of stolen valor, trans-medicalism, people who just transition socially vs those who undergo medical treatments, nonbinary people taking stray shots all over the place... It can be a bad place in trans discourse.

What does desister mean?

Someone who identified as trans then de-transitioned back to their assigned gender. It's a term usually used by anti trans activists that claim to have been trans at some stage, but also often by trans people forced/coerced back into the closet because of either propaganda against Le Woke Trans Agenda and/or to make a niche online presence amongst the right.
It's a slightly safer position than right wingers transitioning and being "one of the good ones" and pandering to the right like that outspoken trans MAGA lady whose name escapes me who got harassed/attacked by the same MAGA she was trying to court.
