"Under no circumstances will the United States permit the forced relocation of Palestinians from Gaza or the West Bank, the besiegement of Gaza, or the redrawing of the borders of Gaza," Harris explained, according to a statement from the vice president's office.
What's been happening for the past month in Gaza then? Just a little Israeli adventure into Gaza with a few fireworks?
Cutting off water, electricity, emergency aid, and food while also launching a coordinated air and ground attack isn't a siege, it's an invasion which is totally different
I can imagine her losing her temper in the (very?) near future when she's in a media scrum and she loses her cool because the reporters keep asking questions and they are unsatisfied with her answers.
"But some media outlets are describing this as ethnic cleansing."
"Look - I'll say it yet again. Israel is annexing Gaza. Egypt is welcoming Gazans. This is not forced relocation." And she walks away in a huff.
I can imagine this - "I love to say 'If you can't do the time - don't do the crime.' Hamas did the crime and now Gazans gonna do time in Egypt!" She laughs like a drain but then she says "Fuck! Is that mic on? Fuck!"
Worse then just that, they were QR Codes that took people to that map
We won't talk about how many Palestinians living there probably don't have smart phones
We also won't talk about how their telecom had to shut down like 2 weeks back due to lack of fuel (from what I could find) and hasn't turned back on afaik soooo....
"Gazans - we, the United States of America, have a message for you. We see you. We are listening to you. We hear you. And we have given Israel the coordinates and have asked them to respect your humanity and not use the information as a target list."
The fun part of using your unpopular VP to say the tough things in public is then being chained to running them for president later on and acting like they can tread water with lead shoes.
All other criticism of Dems aside doesn't this strike me as a predictable and therefore avoidable self own in the future?
The dems aren't a monolith. They'll come together and close ranks against the left, but they have their own camps. Biden and his camp hate her. Her selection was a totally empty gesture at representational politics. The Biden people don't give a fuck about her career because they will never get a job with her, so they stick her with all this shit. She's never going to be president anyway and no one thinks she will, except maybe her. Even the people who convince her to run so they can make money off her campaign probably don't think she'll win.
Biden has done worse than Kamala could ever aspire to, though not for lack of trying, so I think they feel secure in knowing their base has been trained into a short attention span.
I wish I had thought of that. It would have been a great title. But I'm stealing it to use later. And there will be many "laters" and she hardly has anything to do all day, every day.
Ooh, I wonder if this is going to come up during her 2028 election campaign? Pre-preparing a gaffe they know their hardcore supporters won't actually care about?
Pick a party in the executive branch in a time like now. Which one kills her career willfully? If your answer isn’t “pretty much both” you’re in need of what? Less adhd? Maybe you need to be more sexually deviant. Or perhaps you need more adhd.
My mother used to — she would give us a hard time sometimes, and she would say to us, “I don’t know what’s wrong with you young people. You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?”
