The most evil guy in the One Piece world isn't even a transphobe and doesn't have any obvious transphobes in his like 20k member large comically evil pirate crew. That's literally how easy it is to not be transphobic. And yet it's too hard for folks like this.

I cringed hard when okama were introduced, which gradually turned to confusion as a bunch of stuff was perfectly respectful towards their gender identity despite their horrendously caricatured appearances. Still not sure how much of it is Oda's political understanding expanding and how much of it was a point about the fear of trans people.
- Yeah same. I think the only transphobic person and/or arc in the whole thing is when Saniji goes to okama Island or whatever but even then he ends up friends and with a clear deep respect for all of them.
  I think One Piece isn't perfect but it's significantly more inclusive than most anime. It's probably top 5% or better
