Well they are still missing the self replicating part... But you know, give it some time.
32 0 ReplyThe machines will code that themselves.

Apparently its the other way around. This tech is old: https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2009/jul/19/robots-research

I love how the quote cuts off right before "only goal".
88 0 ReplyOh I assumed it was "our problem"
53 0 ReplyOK I also briefly thought "our problem" but I'm actually PRETTY CONCERNED about the words "only goal" when I really think about it? "Only", as in "Yeah, feeding on humanity is definitely ONE thing we're shooting for, but come on guys, there's lots of applications"

Excited for IRL Horizon Zero Dawn.
47 0 ReplyAt least in Horizon they solved the climate crisis first, before creating the ribits that would wipe out all life
6 0 ReplyWhich then caused another a climate crisis

Joe Rogan elicited some conspiracy theories and media rumors after he claimed on his podcast "Joe Rogan Experience" that the robot would (or at least could) ingest human remains to keep powering itself.

So it's not supposed to be used to eat the dead, good. OMG. It's supposed to eat the life ones!
11 0 ReplyIf I'm gonna be eaten by a robot I'd much rather be dead first.
10 0 ReplyThese robots don’t do that part. They will build new robots to make corpses for them.

Finally! A productive solution to mass graves!
10 0 ReplyApparently the robot is designed to be vegan.
But we all know a robot that feasts on the corpses of genocide victims isn't too far fetched.
12 2 ReplyWe now have a team. The flamethrower dog robot that cooks for the corpse eater.
What the fuck kind of future is this?

Years ago I saw an article about a robot designed to hunt and kill insects as a healthier pest control mechanism in farming. That robot would put the insects into a hopper where they would be converted to fuel to run the robot.
I figured it wasn't going to be too long before they'd be eating us.
