People who wax nostalgic about old Reddit forget that
I like to point out how reddit loathed SJWs. That was the prior right wing boogeyman known today as "woke". They absolutely hated the people who were promoting socially progressive views.
At the peak it was like every single day the site was circle jerking about how much they hated that. People reminisce about really distorted views of reddit like it used to be this cool left leaning platform. Sure if you ignore literally everything about what it was.
ShitRedditSays was extremely hated, everyone on the site was having total meltdowns whenever they would "brigade" by posting a screenshot of some idiot saying something reactionary.
Yeah, when I was dumb teen I spent time on....ugh... KotakuInAction.
At least it was a step up from hanging out on 4chan's /b/ in its hey day.
Yeah, Reddit has always been godawful and it will continue to be godawful
also the main power poster on the site was ghislaine maxwell larping as a malaysian man
Wtf I'ma need a source for that
meanwhile 4klanners pretend reddit is some kind of bastion of woke-ism
The narwhal bacons at hate crime
The Internet was always reactionary like this. I think people who are nostalgic for a more innocent internet must have been children in 2007 or something.
So I get that these computers need to be super-female because the singer is a woman but did they have to make them wave around?
Actual Reddit in 2007: Nword subreddit, jailbait, killnwords, etcetc.
Did subreddits even exist in 2007? Or am I thinking about comments?
before the ShitRedditSays boogeyman came into being it really was awful. I mean it was still awful after that (that subreddit was the entire reason anti-brigading rules were added, to protect racists from being confronted directly). but at least once SRS came into being you could feel a bit more sane with like-minded people.
Idk Reddit seems a lot more pro-lgbt than it did in the early years. If anything they use it even more nowadays to justify US imperialism.
it is reverting big time
It was always like this, even before reddit. I was there Gandalf, 3000 years ago, when Alt.wesley.crusher.die.die.die was made.
Also, the 2024 post is most likely by a bot seeking to farm user interaction and trained on posts that got the most responses. If property destruction bothers you, that’s just another way to get your engagement and profit from your attention.
My reddit account is 14 years old, I used to post about Linux and coffee and now all I use it for is looking at Goro Majima shit posts
