The Daily Dot has previously reported on content creators who’ve called out the fast food giant for its high prices. Popular content creator Kevin Fredericks lamented the loss of the value menu, which a former McDonald’s corporate chef agrees has become virtually nonexistent. Additionally, a Connecticut-based customer revealed that a Big Mac combo cost them $16.89.
Meanwhile the pic clearly shows the order was for 5 items.
Laura appears to have ordered at a McDonald’s in Australia, given the availability of banana bread on the menu and her reference to the restaurant as “Maccas.”
How do fast food prices in Australia mean that America has failed?
I find it funny how people tell the workers that they should partially pay for everyone's slop by working for free, but no one tells landlords to charge less rent to keep consumer prices from going up.
what a fucking shell game the media plays: "the economy is gangbusters! historic low of unemployment! historic wages! inflation is dead (dont count food or gas)!"
"by tarnation we are shocked! shocked i say! that McDonalds has high prices that are bothering regular people. this is a cottage story that only applies to this one specific restaurant and the social media buzz around it"
If I wanted to spend $25 for three items, I could just grab Chinese and leave a generous tip. I swear, I'd practically block a bullet for my local American-Chinese joint at this point.
Rich people when they realize that if living itself is a status symbol, then with all the poors starved to death, they don't have anyone to rub their wealth in their face anymore
This is in Australia, and I can confirm that Maccas is stupidly expensive these days. Most fast food is really pricey and will probably only get worse. People associate it with good times or "being lazy" so they just get it by default without thinking about the price. People probably won't break out of that habit unless they literally can't afford it.
here in the states, every single day, if you have the app, you can buy a big mac and then get a quarter pounder for just another .29. its literally been helping me survive the last few months
I've heard that if you download the app you have to agree to waive your right to join a class action lawsuit against Mcdonalds though. But I'm glad you can get food like that. Maccas used to be my main source of hot food when I was really struggling a few years ago. I hope things turn around for you soon!
I've always felt that about KFC, it's just worse Kingsley's, but twice the price. Yet people love KFC, the drivethrough is always full when I go past one. I don't get it.
You had to raise your prices so you could have better quality products and pay your e.ployees more right?
😐
Right?
Anyway yea thank God we didn't raise the minimum wage, remember how we couldn't raise the minimum wage because then a meal at McDonald's would cost $15.
Hate to say it, but because will pay that much. Even if they complain about it and use it as evidence of America's downfall, they'll never stop going back for more.
