  • To be fair, I had very low expectations for it, which I assume was the case for most people. So after being pleasantly surprised, it's understandable that 'some' folks hype it up a bit too much. (I really enjoyed my time with the show). I consider it just a bit of an overcorrection by people enjoying something...which...I mean there are worse things.

  • Dwarf Fortress - Complete Tutorial/Guide Compilation (Fort Mode 2023)

It's a great guide compilation, but I'm sure you are put off by the over 7-hour length of the video. Don't worry, there are many timestamps, and you can just check out those that interest you. The 'getting started' part only takes about 30 minutes, for example.

On another note, Dwarf Fortress Adventure mode releases in beta on the 17th of this month for the steam version.

After the End Crusader Kings 3 Total Conversion Mod Now in Beta

    From the steam workshop page

After the End is a total conversion mod and successor to the popular CK II mod, bringing Crusader Kings III to the post-post apocalyptic Americas. Covering all of the Americas, After the End takes place long after a great cataclysm, the Event, wiped out of modern society. Centuries later new neo-medieval societies have risen from the ashes.

The year is 2666 and new empires, faiths and cultures have filled the void left over. The Empire of Brazil is the largest in the world, though it still struggles to control the Amazon basin. Further north, Alineados and Cristeros struggle over control of the Mexican Empire. The Emperor of the Holy Columbian Commonwealth claims descent from old America - though the Americanists believe only their religious leaders can truly claim that. Out west, the Eternal Living Guru of California has secured his position at the head of numerous faiths, though many fiercely resist his rule. Play as any of these great powers and reshape the Americas in your image, or one of the numerous smaller dynasties that have arisen across the Americas.

    The Perfect Water

Once again, I'm testing the waters, so to speak (pun intended). I'm here to ask you one simple question: How do you like your water? Which of the choices depicted do you enjoy the most when hydrating yourself.

I would probably go with 2a 5b. Fizzy/sparkling and from a glass. Prefered slightly cold but not with ice.

    Pick a pill. Any pill.

So I'm back with another CYOA (choose your own adventure). This time it's about pills. Not red or blue pills, but special either way.

It's simple: you get to choose either 2 pills or just 1 pill. If you choose just 1 pill you also get the bonus effect.

    85
    You can only pick one

Its time to ask the hard questions. Choose wisely. Im sure the topminds on Hexbear will make the right decision.

If everything goes wrong, I might have to pay money I cant really pay right now. (No idea how much exactly but mor than I can afford probably) This is obviously a stress factor at times. I "could" try to solve it right now, but I can't really afford to solve this if it doesn't work out and have to rely on my parents' money, which sucks and is bad. In a way, it's probably not the end of the world; I heavily doubt I will go to prison, at least, but it sucks to have something that feels like a set-in-stone bad end. Feels like knowing the day of your death. So, I have a problem that I won't be able to solve until the end of 2025. If everything goes well, it will be like nothing ever happened. If everything goes wrong, I might have to pay money I cant really pay right now. (No idea how much exactly but more than I can afford probably) This is obviously a stress factor at times. I "could" try to solve it right now, but I can't really afford to solve this if it doesn't work out and have to rely on my parents' money, which sucks and is bad. I'm schizophrenic, and usually just browsing the internet/games/anime is enough to keep my stress and thoughts at bay. Today, though, I couldn't think about anything else while doing other things, and it is really messing with me.

Do you have any tips for dealing with (I think you call them intrusive thoughts)? Other than drugs. I only do alcohol and I dont want to become an alcoholic.

Actually typing all of this out was nice if nothing else.

Gonna play Civilization 5 again. Need some mods

So I haven't touched Civ 5 since 2014. I have only been playing Civ 6 these last few years. I wanted to give Civ 5 a real indepth go again, but my question is, what are some good 'fun' mods? I know Vox Populi is a big one, but other than that, I don't know any other large mods.

Or do you think I should play the game without mods for a while to get back into it? I have only played Civ 5 for a bit over 90 hours, so I'm not hardcore into it

The feel when I never will be a businessman at the business factory (serious)

Okay, this might sound like a first-world problem, but I suffer from schizophrenia, so please hear me out. I work in an office setting with just two people. The job I currently have is the most laid-back gig I've ever had, as I essentially work in a support role for the other person who works full-time. I work only four days a week and have a flexible, relaxed schedule.

Truth be told, my coworker is also my mentor, and I am being prepared to eventually run the operation on my own. If I worked hard and dedicated myself, I might come close to achieving the greatness of my mentor. Seriously, he is an absolute beast in his field. The thing is, I just don't want to do it. Plus, I'm not even sure I could do it even if I wanted to.

The current state of affairs is perfect, and I love it. I just don't 'want' more. Yet I know it can't last forever like this.

If I followed in the footsteps of my mentor, I could make serious money - like a substantial amount. I doubt I could ever make that money anywhere else through legal means. (I wouldnt be a millionaire dont worry hexbear) However, I'm scared of the time and mental commitment required. I'm a lazy slob, not a super elite salaryman. I just don't know what to do. I feel like I should just get my shit together and be a real MAN™, make that money. I want kids one day and a family; this would secure that dream. On the other hand, I'm kinda chill being alone, and having kids could remain a dream?

Currently, I work to live. Could I envision a scenario where I live to work, if it meant substantial benefits despite the sacrifice?

Im aware that even being my position is a privilege (regardless of my minority background)

It might all seem childish, I know, but I have been living in a lull. Only in the last 10 months or so have I been waking up; that's why I'm making this post.

    Any input is welcome.

Finally got a new phone :3

What the title says. I got a new phone for Christmas—a modern model (released last year). While I'm known to be an avid gamer, I've never played much on mobile phones. So, once again, I'm reaching out to the Hexbear collective for help. What are some good, fun, or addictive games for phones? The only things I don't care for are rhythm or puzzle games. I'm interested in everything, from games you can play for 10 minutes while waiting for a call to games you can play daily.

Also I already played a ton of Vampire Survivors on Pc so no need to recommend that.

Do I play Stellaris or Europa Universalis 4 ? Help me folx

So, I started a new game of Stellaris with a few light mods. I have some time on my hands, about 14 days. Despite playing Stellaris for over 600 hours, I've never finished a full game. With that said, I'd also like to dive into EUIV at some point. I did play EUIV briefly in the past, but I never truly grasped the game's deeper mechanics. Fourteen days seems like it could provide a foundational understanding of EUIV. Who knows, EUIV might become my new favorite game, especially considering the vast amount of content available for it. On the other hand, Stellaris feels like comfort food; I can relax while building up my space nation. In my quest for an answer, I'm once again turning to the brilliant minds on Hexbear to assist me.

How is Grim Dawn in 2023 ?

I have been craving a game with lots of loot and lots of clicking, so I have been thinking about starting to play Grim Dawn, which just received a big update. Now, I'm asking the fine folks on Hexbear what they think about Grim Dawn in the year of our Lord 2023. Fun builds? Tips or tricks? Things I should know, etc.?
