What's everyone's goals for 2025?
Some of mine are: reading 52 books, going for a walk at least once a week, getting a new piercing, and doing my budgeting every week instead of waiting multiple weeks, etc etc
What's everyone else's? Maybe comrades with similar goals can be accountability buddies

Trans my gender more, maybe start HRT (I had a stupid hallmark ass movie christmas involving reconnecting with my also non binary formally somewhat estranged sibling, which was nice and put things in perspective but also a whole thing)
Stick to the bare minium government recommendations on alcohol. No more than 10 standards a week, no more than 4 in a setting etc. Found I've been drinking more when stressed.
Engage in the local queer Bdsm scene where I've moved. Maybe attend events with my partner. Would really like to do some modelling for someone else. Not sure how feasible that is but could put feelers out there.
I'm hoping to upgrade my rower and use my time to exercise slightly less but better. Some months I've been doing 7hrs a week of bike or rower. I want to get that to just 5hrs of rowing at a regular time.
Read more. I'm hoping if I get my exercise in during the morning I'll have more time for reading.

I can be quite the anime hater at times...Recommend starting with Samurai Champloo if you haven't watched it already.
It was my first anime as an adult that helped me ease into it. Rewatching it now.
Here's my list, in no particular order and I'd be thrilled if I even achieve just one:
Get skilled in something that isn't vidya or media consumption. (It could be learning an instrument, actually figuring out some technology skills, art, just anything)
I always recommend people to learn playing the guitar. It's relatively cheap, you just need to make one investment in the beginning. You can learn it by yourself using the resources from the internet or you can take a few lessons in the beginning. Learning to play it is relatively easy, you can make a lot of progress in just 2-3 months. Most of pop music is simple so you just need to learn some basic chords in order to play a lot of songs. Learning the guitar will make it easier to learn other instruments if you want. And of course you can then play in a band if you wish, which is the most fun part of it
also stop mourning my childhood essentially. It's over. Time to make the most of adulthood.
I feel this, but remember - adulthood is what you make it. You will never have endless free time again, but you can bring some of your favorite hobbies from childhood into your adulthood. I feel like that fills the void for me. Good luck!

Wanna' do an LSD Dream Emulator playthrough where I play a single dream every day because the game ends after 365 stages so it should end by New Year's Eve 2025.
Get back into playing guitar. It's been about 5-6 years since I've picked up an instrument. Played regularly from 14-28, was even in a band. Ended up selling all my instruments because I was poor.
Just bought this for $180.

Also gonna get back into drawing. Haven't drawn since I was a kid. Seems like a fun, calming hobby. Thinking about just doing graphite or pen and paper.

Keeping my house clean. This year depression, work and overall mental health shittiness made my house into a horrible garbage nest.

U know what, Peter Jordanson is a reactionary piece of shit, but this year I've been in video calls where moving the camera just a touch to either side would've revealed a pile of garbage I was too depressed and in executive dysfunction to pick up and throw away, so I'm gonna go easy on him for this.
Genuinely I need some discipline. When I was in a relationship it kind of kept me grounded, but when I’m single I tend to…. Slip. I have a pretty active job but I want to get back into swimming, try and make sure I eat a lil healthier, quit vaping again, cut back on drinking. Nothing crazy, just pull myself back into line a bit.
I started therapy a couple of months back, I’m interested to see where that takes me this year.
I just got approved to rent an apartment so I’ll be living alone (no family, housemate or partner - except my cat I guess lol) for the first time ever, so I’m kinda excited to make the place my own. I have almost no furniture so it’s a blank canvas. Although it will take me a while to get stuff because I have no money lol. On the same note I need to manage my finances a little better, try and finally finishing paying off my debt (I have maybe a thousand to go), maybe even god forbid start saving something.
Plus I want to be more inspired and disciplined with my organising work. I’ve been doing it for five years now and in 2024 I felt so burned out, and so did the rest of the organisation tbh. I want to be a better comrade and hopefully enable my comrades to be better as well.
So yeh, I’m not really setting huge unrealistic “resolutions”, but I just want to be a marginally improved person and communist. And a better friend tbh, some of my friendships stalled out last year, I’ve started to reconnect with some people.

Be more principled
Getting more financial independence from my parents (moving out is the ultimate goal but it is not going to be easy especially with the disability I have), get a diagnosis for my chronic fatigue, and do as much organizing as said fatigue allows. Also, make as much progress on my long-term comic projects as I can in between all of that plus school.

I have a recommendation regarding these two goals, it's called How Not to Die. It's a book about the health benefits of the whole-foods plant-based diet. The book is evidence-based and has thousands of references to scientific literature. It is very informative and has a lot of useful and actionable advice. I read it in 2024 and my diet is now healthier than it's ever been. I recommend it any chance I get. The author also wrote two cookbooks, which are also available for free on Anna's Archive
Get my bachelors degree, overcome my fear of going to the gym, draw regularly, start playing around with music, participate in community organization and communicate how I really feel compassionately and bravely.
Learn Spanish and lose weight. I'm currently on a 50 day streak on duo lingo and am just finishing the 1st section.

I'm trying to build an hho welder here, and my electrical knowledge is in that weird place where I have a random assortment of intermediate-level knowledge but lack many fundamentals. I work in IT, so studying for and passing some kind of certification and then job hopping is the most direct path to $$$, as for what cert specifically? Dunno, when it's not knowledge I get to use daily it's hard to find the motivation to sit down and consistently study. The stuff I find interesting feels like it would be less helpful in a job hunt cause I'm just so far down the ladder from where it would used, and the stuff I should study is boooooooooring
I am going to finish reading The Will To Change and rejoin the reading group. I've caught up with most of the reading, so I'll be making some posts there soonish.

Make it to 2026
2024 was a fucking slog of a year. I was in the trenches from start to virtual finish and I came out better than before so, even though I didn't get to accomplish some of the goals that I am recycling for 2025, I am still very proud of myself for where I am now. We always hit obstacles that are out of our control, it's how we respond to them that is our responsibility. Now I'm in a much better place for my next 5 years, even if Bird Flu and the dang cheeto go wild.
So, for 2025, I want to read through my backlog, watch more films than I did in 2020 (my record), travel internationally again to at least 2 countries, go back to the gym and maintain discipline, eat and look healthier, save money, and plan/enact some career goals.
Read at least two books a month.
Watch 4 new movies a month.
Listen to new music. I might try and listen to an album a day, but theres a good chance I will forget doing that lmao.
Try to talk to my friends more. I think I will be able to do that at least next month because its my bday and I would love to hang out.
Complete my high school completion program and look into a trade.
Skateboard 3 times a month
Fufill my requirements to be eligible for promotion at work
