This extreme act of protest is to draw attention to an urgent and important discovery..
We’re seeing the divisive media campaigns play out with the Israel-Hamas War: Harvard, Stanford, NYU, Penn, Columbia, and Cornell have all had professors or student groups make brazen, incendiary pro-Hamas statements. These schools are awash with crypto criminals, and these people are all lying – it’s all manufactured so they can make us angry, divide us, undermine anti-Netanyahu sentiment, and write countless op-eds about how any sort of leftist action at universities is wokeness run amok.
0 theory, already curling into defensive "oh it's just netanyahu that's bad"
This "stop Trump or democracy is over" thing is so goddamn flimsy that I don't know if anyone, no matter how mentally ill, would willingly put themselves through any discomfort at all in order to defend it
Even those who honestly take that slogan at face value do not feel at all moved by it, except to performative tears... no lib would ever do any kind of violent or hurtful direct action like that, because this slogan is not about life or death, as was the case with Bushnell and, mistaken and ill as he might have been, with this man. It's all about feeling comfortable and undisturbed.
Seems to me like a white liberal struggling extremely hard to avoid blaming anything except the intensifying contradictions of capitalism, colonialism, imperialism, and patriarchy for his problems. “Fascism is coming” / “a ponzi scheme is about to collapse” like lol bro welcome to the year 1500 in England, we sure have a lot of history to tell you about.
This also has major first time as tragedy, second time as farce vibes. Aaron Bushnell set himself on fire to protest genocide; Mazarello here set himself on fire because his stocks might decline.
I got an email from Max Azzarello in October linking to this substack. He was shopping it around for a while to different left orgs (because it's bunk).
