Seriously, isn't there like a dozen movies like this?
One of them is clearly the bad guy. Like, I don't fucking care that the guy who can organize the monied liberal elites to get enough support to actually beat Trump is old.
Biden does like six events a day. Constantly on the phone with world leaders, cabinet leaders. Check the calendar. Check the readouts. Every time he goes somewhere he takes questions. Gaggles all the time.
The claims that he is infirm or unfocused are meritless. His brain has always been way faster than his mouth. Trump has always been the opposite, and his brain is even slower now, obviously.
Imagine if this was a action movie and these were the protagonists.
So I'm right there with you lamenting that we ended up with these two as the only likely choices, but I don't know if I would want "action movie protagonist" as the metric for what would make a "good" president.
The last like 10 years have been useless as far as debates go.
Just watch WWE if you want to see a fake wrestling match. These "debates" have been absolutely pathetic and show the world just how fucking stupid we are.
The Obama era debates were the last decent debates. He was able to give thoughtful nuanced answers, while still holding people’s attention and remaining concise. Not many people have that skill.
That said, those Biden - Palin debates have some similarities to the Trump - Biden debates. Once again, Biden is debating a loud, confident, fascist, moron. And once again, we’re hoping he doesn’t produce a gaffe that makes him the center of attention.
People talk about these debates as if they are a thing you can "win." Once upon a time they might have been, but who in the nation didn't know who they were voting for in this election 4 years ago?
The moderator asks a question, the candidate doesn't answer it, his opponent slings mud, the audience claps, nothing is achieved.
You run into two presidents one cannot tell the truth and will mostly only respond to comments about himself while the other often mumbles incoherently but occasionally says "the idea, you'd lie about this"
You need to know how fuck to get out of here. There is no exit.
The irony of this statement is shocking. You can't reach people you can't have empathy for. Keep alienating people that usually agree with you. It'll be a winning tactic.
