Amazing attitude
  • My wife is unwell. I've taken her to the doctor's. I'm sitting here now, on my laptop and working. Because I can and there is stuff I want done. She's leaning into my shoulder, and I'm typing this. It's good for her. It's good for me. I see no issue with that article.

That lady I'm sure could take the day off, but sick kids are pretty low maintenance. So why not get work done? The mother isn't sick.

  • Of course. But, even there you see the kids doing the wrong thing. Because they're kids. It's not their fault, it's just they're not emotionally, nor intellectually mature enough.

  • Winamp is going open source, and it feels like the early 2000s again

The issue will be figuring out how to get young people to ride responsibly. Something the world has struggled with for years.

I can't personally see a solution, except something draconian like banning anyone who doesn't have a motorcycle licence from having them.

  • Open source Android diagram, tree or mind mapping software.
  • Thank you. I just loaded obsidian, installed Excalidraw. The issue I can see, is the nodes don't link so you can drag them around. Maybe they can, but the interface is so small I can barely see it. I'll try on my tablet later and see if I can get it to work. Mermaid does sound good. I like the idea of scripting the nodes. I'll give that a crack also.

  • Open source Android diagram, tree or mind mapping software.
  • Thank you.

Unfortunately, as far as I can tell the only actual open source tool, was mermaidjs, but when it loads it says "Code editing not supported on mobile. Please use a desktop browser."

This is the problem faced. I just can't seem to find anything that's on device / local, open source, and Android.

  • Open source Android diagram, tree or mind mapping software.

Hi all, I really like the open source Linux application called DIA it's a diagram tool that handles flowcharts beautifully.

I'm trying to find an offline Android application that is similar to that, that I can use locally on my Android tablet.

Other software categories that might work include mind mapping, but anything like that really is what I'm after.

There seems to be a severe lack of this, I can't really find anything. I used to use freemind on Linux also, again a great application, but nothing seems to be available for Android.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them. Thank you.

  • ‘This doesn’t make sense. How much shopping can you really carry on a bicycle?’
  • I do get your point. And, I love my bike. I've ridden EVERY street in my town. Every.

But, reality is reality. Ib remember a Brisbane summer that was so humid I decided to get to work REALLY early, so I could beat the heat. 7:30am walking from the bus stop to the office. About 1km walk. By the time I got there my shirt was stuck to me.

Now, that's a hot year, and it's not always that bad, but it shows how serious the heat can be there.

eBikes are a godsend for that kind of heat. But, they're not cheap. People are financially stressed, and already have cars.

    It's a hard sell.

  • I've lived in Brisbane. The humidity in summer is insanity levels. I feel people miss this crucial aspect, when talking about cities in areas as humid, and hot as Brisbane.

  • Unfortunately yes, as I am all for the petition, as you've clarified it. I'll sign. But, it's a shame that was not made clearer.

With the amount of people employed in the SAAS world, that could scare them. With more clarity, it might have more signatures.

  • Larger display emulator for aging eyes

So, I'm the kid that grew up with the originals. Hence I love the emulators.

However, I'm obviously now an old bastard and my vision isn't what it was.

I see some super cute emulators, but the screens are tiny.

Does anyone have recommendations for larger screen emulators, that play as many systems as possible?

I have an emulator or two on my Samsung tablet and it's GREAT, but, having the controller separate sucks to be honest. So I'm interested in the largest screens about, with controller built in.

Any suggestions would be super appreciated.

Note. I'm in Australia, so the Steam Deck is out as an option.

  • What about cloud based SAAS?

Company out of funds. Has to pull back offerings. Closes that software.

This law would force them to somehow keep it operating.

That would be like telling the local bakery he has to keep baking pies each morning, even though he's gone broke.

  • A true open source alternative to N8N / Zapier / etc?

    Hi all,

I have seen lately that the 'source available' N8N (which is excellent), has starting increasing pricing and restricting what you can get for your pricing.

In time, I can only assume this will get worse. Now, they deserve to get paid, and that's fine, but I had gone in thinking this was open source, but I see now it's not that at all.

This has led me to wonder if there's a true open source / self hosted alternative to N8N out there? Doing a bit of a hunt shows 'source available' alternatives, with a price point, and restrictions. I'm wondering if any team has tackled this in a truly open manner and if there's something out there?

    Thanks so much

How can I block a websites location data request, so it doesn't keep asking?

For example if I were to go to Facebook, you will ask for my location data, and I will say no and never ask again.

Then I go back and it just keeps asking.

Basically every website I visit this happens to.

Is there not a way to just have firefox absolutely stop Facebook from asking again?

Thanks so much for your help

Create a Public Hotspot from my router, that handles auto time out when their session is done, etc?

    Hi there,

I find myself in remote areas regularly, and I have internet, when nobody else does.

I'm happy to share this internet with people, but I want a time restriction on them, and throttle their speeds etc, so that they don't smash my internet / data allowance.

I'm looking for a really easy system where they can just sign into a portal, it gives them a certain amount of time based on my settings, then kicks them off again.

I'm using a GLiNet AX1800 if that makes any difference? Also, all of my machines run different versions / distros of Linux.

I'd really appreciate any feedback, or guidance on this.

    Thanks so much

Best way to add interface / shortcut for search?

    Hi all,

Very new to django, after building a few sites with flask.

I haven't chosen my frontend, but am considering a classic bulma, bootstrap or similar front end using classic templates.

My question is, is there a standard/ preferred way to implement a shortcut key to search input box workflow?

For example, user presses / key, and cursor goes to search input, so they can start searching.

    Thanks so much

    Open source CRM solutions

    Hi all,

We're using a closed source solution at the moment for our business. It's good at its core, and we don't want to change, but, they recently changed tech stack for their interface, and it runs like a dog now. Everything is syrup slow, and they are not going to admit their issue, and redact their work, or change to another tech stack. We run high end machines, and it's just terrible.

So that got me looking about, and I'm trying to find something that is preferabbly open source, that we can self host also. But having said that, we're happy to support the devs by paying them to host, if it's not out of the range of normality pricing wise.

We do tap in with our own tools via API's, webhooks, and whatnot. So if a 'deal' is 'won' for example, the system will talk with our n8n automation flows, and do various things. So it will need to handle that.

Any suggestions GREATLY appreciated. Happy for anyone to pimp their own, or their companies also. As I say, we're happy to pay if it's what suites, but we'd like to support open source endevours if we can.

    Thank you

Is there a preferred guide, or maybe a community guide on running stable diffusion locally on Linux?

    Building legs, with injuries?

    Hi all,

I work on the computer, so my legs over the years have become quite skinny.

I'd like to build them, but I'm travelling full time, so no gym, and I have some injuries.

Two fused vertebrae in my neck, and two near the base of my spine.

My knees are also susceptible to injury, with fluid build up behind one of them.

So with a combination of bad knees, back and neck, how can I build my legs?

Ideally I'd like to get them quite strong. I've used an incline leg press in the past and loved it, but as I'm travelling, can't get access to that kind of gear.

    Any advice appreciated.
