Why is this being reposted once a week? I agree it's an important petition, but this is the third time it's been posted in c/Australia alone. Given that it's also been posted in a couple of other local communities, and the website from the people behind the petitions have been posted across most game/tech related Lemmy communities recently, I don't think it needs to be reposted every week.
Edit: also, since Lemmy and c/Australia are relatively small, the last post from a week ago is only 10 posts down in c/Australia sorting by new. The first post is currently the top post of the month, and the second post is currently the top second top post of the (edit edit: second top)
SAAS isn't a one-off purchase, it's a rental with ongoing rental fees.
The intention of the wording of the petition is that it only covers "purchased" items. If a customer is given the impression that they are buying something then it should act like any other bought item. If they are given the impression they are renting something then it's out of scope, that's expected to abruptly die one day.
effectively withdrawing customers’ rights under the Australian Consumer Law to ownership and undisturbed possession of their purchased goods
^ it's a bit subtle if you're not familiar with the campaigns' language.
This means other people will misinterpret it too :(
