Anyone who recently had a "Yup, it was that kinda day" day. What happened?
  • This was maybe a month or two ago. I was woken up in the morning by my fiancée who told me I'd left the fridge open over night. When I logged onto work HR informed me the day of annual leave I had carried over was lost due to technical reasons (cut off to take was end of march, I took it first day of April due to work time prrssures. They have no flexibility on rules), then a major headache kicked up from a new keto diet I was on. Then to top it off, I was selling my car, and someone was coming round to look. As I loved it put from the driveway to viewing it sprang a massive oil leak, like 10 mins before they showed up. So they viewed it spewing oil everywhere, not exactly a solid selling point. Needless to say they didn't buy it.

All in one day. That was a shit day for sure.

My wife's been mad at me for a week. So im going to offer her a tenner to be friends again. Wish me luck.
  • Depending on how bad it is, I'd definitely try to pull something like this. Its blunt and funny enough to be a way to start conversation again. It's not really about the money, it's a means to engage. Your character and delivery are key, so it's not a formal attempt, more of a playful attempt.

    I hope it helped!

Next step. build her a fort in the living room. Tell her it's just for her, but she may also invite you in to her fort. Give her Fort space, and she may give you Fort company

  • how to break an addiction?
  • Dip your finger I'm pvc glue, letcit dry, peel it off. Repeat.

Or find an activity to distract. Don't sit on the sofa and watch TV (if that's where you pick), keep busy with other things.

If a vehicle were traveling through space at/near the speed of light, then what would happen if it turned its headlights on?
  • If you were observing as a third person watching in the slowest of slow motion, would the light from the headlights creep forward illuminating the void infront only slightly faster than the speed of which the vehicle is travelling?

Edit: assuming the vehicle is going factional slower than the speed of light.

  • Whats a stupid ritual in your life that makes you happy?
  • When my fiancée goes to work, she leaves at 6am. I'm usually asleep still so she wakes me for a kiss goodbye. I reply with sleepily with "drive safe, I love you". If I'm to sleepy to say drive safe I worry 'what if today she is in an accident, and I didn't say it'. So I bought her a key tag thing that says it, so I know ive got myself covered incase I'm too sleepy

  • Lemmy users who are missing a limb, what are some unexpected benefits of missing a limb?
  • Bionic limps, especially legs do look cool! I mean I obviously wouldn't want to lose a limb, but a far as replacements, they're certainly a step up from wooden peg legs and other dated alternatives.

One bionic arms/hands get the same level of sophistication and function as flesh and bone ones, they will be a fantastic alternative for those that need it

  • Upload videos and gifs

Does the mobile app allow upload of gifs and videos? It seems to take stills of a gif, and no videos in folders when searching for file via liftoff.

I might be doing it wrong. Looking for advice and/or confirmation

    Something to note

When scrolling down it get post from 1hr then 1day then after only 5 minutes or so of scrolling down its get to stuff from a very long time ago. Weeks, months.

    I filter by hot.

I may have a setting wrong, or may not be a 'feature' of the app but something wider in lemmy. I'm not sure.

Asking for either help in changing settings or if it's the app, maybe a suggestion for a fix to the dev team.

LiftOff is still a great app, so keep up the good work!
