NGA rebuffs efforts by billionaire to take down painting by award-winning artist Vincent Namatjira
Streisand Effect, do your work!
Honestly it seems to just be the artist's style.
Sounds like she's just having a hissy fit.
53 0 ReplyThe artist himself calls it “guerilla humour” so it is on purpose.
And let’s not forget, the higher up ozzies don’t really like satire at all.38 0 ReplyThis reminds me of that intentionally bad Simpson's art page that went viral on Facebook several years ago (probably a lot longer than it feels like).
4 0 ReplyKinda reminds me of that messed up restoration of a painting of Jesus.

I demand they keep it up. So there.
24 0 ReplyAnd I demand her portrait to be replaced by a funny portrait of a way cooler Aussie. Like esteemed Academy Award nominated character actress Margot Robbie. Or Bluey.
It's a win-win.
18 1 ReplyI feel like you are a little biased here, Esteemed academy award nominated character actress Margot Robbie.
Bandit would be a much better choice.

2 0 ReplyYou are right! He totally would.
I wanted to at least win something this year, if not the Oscars...

As much as I would love if they did exactly that, I much prefer the public humiliation that Gina Rinehart is experiencing.
All this faffing about trying to get it removed is only drawing more eyeballs to the piece, and I love that shit with my whole heart.

Hahaha thats truly terrible! I can see why she wants taken down. NGA might need to extend their hours for this one.

How does she think this works? Fucking billionaires think they own the world.
Edit: let’s get a portrait of Lonnie in there.
12 0 ReplyLuckily, in the article, the caption underneath the pictures told me which one was actually a photo of Gina, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to tell....
12 0 ReplyI would like to see more headlines name the artist, Vincent Namatjira.
Maybe: Woman demands NGA remove her portrait by award winning artist Vincent Namatjira.

10 1 Replyfuck Gina Rinehart.
7 0 Replybeat me to it! I demand she go fuck herself.
Oh look. Nothing happened. Guess making demands is just completely fucking redundant hey.
Well, just take it as advice Gina.

I'd love to get prints from the artist to hang on my wall.
6 0 ReplyGina has never heard of the Streisand effect. Let's hope she never does

The painting is very accurate to what she looked like before her plastic surgeon got to work.
4 0 ReplyStreisand effect anyone?
5 1 ReplyShe can buy the art off the artist or the NGA if she really wants it gone.
I'd argue there is no better way to let the world know what kind of person you are if you're complaining about this though rather than laughing it off
4 0 ReplyLuckily this portrait isn't "AI" generated or everyone would have to agree with her.

2 0 ReplyThis lady must hate those caricature artists on the boardwalk.
"HOW DARE YOU DRAW ME LIKE THAT. I LOOK NOTHING LIKE THAT!"
2 0 ReplyStreisand effect for sure, but I can also definitely understand her request. Yikes
4 2 ReplyIm sure she'll come up with an effective way to erase it from society and the internet.
2 1 ReplyI don't even know what his issue with this picture is. As a blunder years photo, it's not that bad. 18-year-old me would have even envied that coat.
