[Thursday thread] Which movies and TV shows have you watched this week?

The Good Doctor. The series finale is coming up, though they're taking it slow, and it doesn't seem like it's going to be anything relevantly groundbreaking.

Just finished Shogun. I see all the polarized reactions of the finale. While I was expecting a little bit more, I understand what they were going for and it works.

Realize this is a little late but I don't think that matters too much.

I just started checking out Mob Psycho 100 and it's...Not what I thought it might be, in a good way! The environment art and the creature art is really sharp and fun. Btw, if any other anime people are around, you might check out !anime@ani.social for a community to discuss anime in.

Besides that I watched a couple bad/B-movies a few days ago. One knew what it was and was the sillier for it, called Repligator. It's dated and has some of those rough edges to be aware of (typical sexism, awkward but sort of positive handling of trans stuff), but it's a fun time as scientists trying to teleport people accidentally turn them into women, and after some mishaps, into women that turn into humanoid reptiles after they orgasm.

The other was called Reptilian, which was a Korean attempt at Godzilla, except named Yonggary, and they pronounce it like...Young Gary, so it's almost impossible to take seriously. Also it turns out Yonggary is being controlled by some aliens to try to destroy humanity and take over the Earth, so...If you're into cheesy giant monster movies it's about what you'd expect.

I started watching Schitt’s Creek for the first time. Never really heard of it before and it’s been pretty funny. Like how short the episodes are.

Also a bit of classic (season 7-8) Simpsons.

I'm binging Star Trek: Enterprise again. Probably followed by The next Generation.

I just watched the new X-Men series, not bad. There are dedicated threads on !marvelstudios@lemmy.world

I watched Not Dead Yet episode 9-10 without realising that the last episode was actually the season finale. I found both episodes to be the best of season 2 and I'm wondering if the series will be renewed for 3rd season

Also I started the first 2 episode of Invincible season 2. I'm not sure what to make of it as yet but it has had some humorous moments at least.

Finally got to see Loves Lies Bleeding. It's wilder than I was expecting, with some out-there VFX and outright trippy sequences. I think all the cast must have been competing to see who could have the worst haircut (an easy win for Ed Harris).

My fandom of Kristen Stewart is frankly embarrassing at this point. Her character is really kinda scuzzy in this film, but even when she's face down on the couch, her hand in her pants and her feet grazing the remains of a microwaved dinner, there's still some part of my brain thinking: "she's so cool ..."

Finished The Butler and Changeling today. SO many familiar faces in The Butler, good story. Changeling ended up not being was I thought it was in the best way, very much worth the watch.
