Male.
Lack of emotional intimacy from anyone. Really difficult making proper, deep friendships.
Resultant chronic loneliness.
Pressure (ingrained since birth) to stifle emotions, stiff upper lip etc.
Trying not to pass this bullshit down to my son.
Thinking about this makes always makes me wonder if I should even marry and have children because I don't want to be a father like my dad but deep down I feel I will exactly be like my dad if I become a father.
Women - sucks to not know who your real friends are. Seen guys pretend for years and when they don't get a sexual relationship, you realize they weren't ever really a friend, but were just trying to get close. I've had friends who have been attacked for a situation like that. Years.
I'm a dude, so being fearless in what I want to do without people questioning me has been a boon in life. Sucks others can't experience that.
On the other hand, other guys and women assuming I'm an idiot who can barely cook/clean and that my wife handles everything domestic (she doesn't) is frustrating.
Nonbinary people I have met don't though, so that's nice.
Traditional gender roles are annoying. I do all the dishes while my wife enjoys mowing the lawn; I’ve had multiple neighbors make jokes about my wife doing the lawn.
I imagine the crack they make is probably “a real man does the lawn,” and my response to those sorts of cracks is always “a real man doesn’t care what you think.”
Cis male here and while I don't really partake in the dating scene, I figure there's a lot of social nuance to it. As far as I know, women aren't "allowed" to make the first move, and so you have to work out if she's interested in you or not through many subtle cues that are hard to see. And if you get it wrong, you're either a creep or you've missed your chance because she thinks you're not into her.
Like feminism, could you please empower women to make the first move. My dumb ass is not going to see those signals.
In general though, and I know some people on Lemmyreddit disagree, women get the short end of the stick a lot when it comes to societal norms and laws. It's frustrating how much internalised misogyny there still is.
Female.. men's sense of entitlement to you, your body, your life, and accompanying lack of actual care for you as a person AND accompanying violence. All this resulting in lack of safety in or out of your own home.
I hate genders. It's like I want public infrastructure but also gun rights so both camps hate me for not picking theirs while they think any deviation outside their party norms makes them look bad.
What! You don't belive in reducing all of the nation's issues down to two check boxes and making your whole personality revolve around a color? What a weirdo.
