Housing prices have doubled in less than 10 years in my area yet my wage has only gone up by about 4 dollars over the same time. And i only got that by getting a college education and switching careers.
Essentials like rent and food have also increased to the point where i still feel like I make less now.
You echo exactly how I feel. Thank you for giving us a voice and putting it out there. Now if only we could actually change it. But honestly I don’t see how. Record profits to corporations and the 1%, but not a snowballs chance in hell for the working person.
Queue guillotine joke and such… but seriously. I also know voting is to help too.. but look how that’s played out. Sure Biden got the economy purring but it’s not helping the average family.
On top of that we have to deal with Ex-President Cheeto trying to hamfist his tiny little hands into things and split the country. I’m just so tired. I did what I should have.. voted. Got educated. Work. Pay taxes. It’s gotten me barely making ends meet most of my adult life. I’m so so tired.
Here in Belgium, "living wage" is what we call the stipend basically everyone who has no alternative is entitled to. It's not quite livable (1200 EUR for someone living alone), but the idea that not even a job would gibe you a living wage seems quite foreign.
(We do have issues with there not being much of a financial incentive to work, especially if it also means you'd have to pay for childcare)
