i've asked this question before and been surprised by the results, now i have access to more weirdos it's your problem:

it is the middle of a sunday afternoon. you have nothing on, and aren't expecting visitors, deliveries or post.

unexpectedly, there is a knock at the door.

which of these would surprise you more to find on the doorstep? a walrus or a fairy

  • What about a walrus who is also a fairy? Didn't see that coming did you?

  • Walrus

I live in rural southern Ohio, very far from any kind of coastline except Lake Erie, which doesn't have walruses (afaik). A woodland fairy would be slightly less shocking than an actual fucking walrus.

  • A walrus, since I hope fairies are real

  • Walrus because it raises a lot of questions, whereas a fairy being real confirms magic is too and thus answers a lot of questions

  • I was going to say walrus but reading the preamble it says there's a knock first and that's really throwing me. Walruses can't knock, right? So if you heard a knock and saw a walrus you'd assume it's a prank, which is less surprising bit still surprising but not as surprising as not hearing a knock and seeing a walrus. But if you hear a knock and see a fairy that's also more surprising in some ways because how can the fairy knock loud enough that I'd recognise it as a knock and not a tap? Unless the walrus is a sentient walrus knows humans knock on doors to announce themselves, which makes it even more surprising if it were that kind of walrus but it doesn't say that it's a special walrus. So I'm saying fairy.
