Part of the move from animation to live action has to be making the aesthetic more realistic, unless you're going for something super stylized. If we see a "real" Lara in a snowstorm in inappropriate attire it's way more likely to be uncanny compared to a cartoon version of Lara doing the same thing.

It is absolutely perfect trash to represent the game series. I'm a huge fan of the games until 20 years ago or so when it all went to shit, castlevania 3 is one of my favorite games (play the Japanese version, in an odd inverse it's the more fair version and is a bit easier than the first game, the classic collection includes.it if you switch the language to Japanese) and aside from no Grant, they really stuck to cannon while expanding only three blank spots. New season was cool with the few.ch revolution but I do miss Dracula.
