Anthony “theneedledrop” Fantano on JPEGMAFIA and Kanye West
Dude’s being really defensive even though he’s criticized artists in the past for being right wing. It’s times like this I’m reminded that he’s been on multiple v*ush streams too.
EDIT: I've seen it and BOI I AM FUCKIN SICK. How in the fuck is the kind of person who was dragging crackers and their ideology for filth everywhere from 2 to 10 years ago gonna let hisself get photographed standing next to the #1 Sunken Placed-assed 🦝 in hip-hop while he's wearing a Burzum shirt??????????? and then try to justify it with "i just like to promo this way bc most y'all too dumb and white to see it i just wanna get paid" mf a whole hypocrite.
2024 peggy a whole mf industry clone of 2014 peggy and i stand on that
Isn't the only information about this the picture itself, or did Peggy say something about it? Because if it's just the picture, agree with melonboy that commentary on this is stupid. Otherwise we gotta dunk on our favorite CEO Rachel Jake for going to Shen Yun, etc.
Apparently. And his justification was "he just wanna get paid"/"he likes to promo that way bc most his followers are too dumb and white to see it". Mf a sellout. Dunno why I keep expecting better. Why I keep expecting real. Idk, maybe the potential for hip-hop is entirely captured and throttled out by the Misleader class. Maybe it is just all kayfabe all the way down and none of these mfs are on anything
I just think jpegmafia has earned enough cred to attempt an explanation. I'm not saying he just gets a pass because I like his music. He shit on Kanye in his music recently, so while this is very wtf to me, I'd still like to hear the explanation before writing off his stuff forever because of one photograph. If the explanation is "oh, I know Kanye is a Nazi, I just think his music is cool" then you won't see me defending anyone.
Brace told people it was a bit before the footage dropped. They dedicated two entire episodes to talking about Shen Yun, so there actually was context beforehand.
Counterpoint: I actually point people to this TA episodes as a source on why Falun Gong is a regressive cult and its seems pretty effective. So the tiny amount of money they made off Brace and Liz is likely countered by the number of people who were helped to see through Falun Gongs bullshit.
I don’t think going to a free reactionary play to dunk on it and mess with the employees is the same as collaborating with someone because they’re your idol
I have watched his album reviews in the past and I never agree with his scores lol. If it’s not heavily produced hip hop, then he’s giving it a low score.
From what I've seen of Fantano he's generally alright, though he has some really lazy/shitty opinions and he gets into so many silly beefs on social media for no reason that its hard to take him seriously
I don't know a lot about Fantano. I know he's a big deal and usually gets talked positively about in left spaces. Tbh the only shitty take of his I remember was when he said Swedish prisons were like Gitmo and that asap rocky was being tortured when he was briefly held for having his security stomp on a guys face.
So extrapolating purely from this. Maybe he's just not a big fan of judging musicians for anything but their music?
Maybe he's just not a big fan of judging musicians for anything but their music?
No he judges them for everything as well. But usually those are two separate videos.
I know he's a big deal and usually gets talked positively about in left spaces.
Not talking about you, but that sentence is so pathetic lol. Why are people so hung up about this dude just because he said something about BLM or Bernie sanders being good.
I dunno, it's a confusing move really. I don't think the left leaning stuff in his songs was done to falsely find a niche. He grew up rough, faced constant racism, and was discharged from the army for speaking out against abuse. He's got some authenticity about him.
His niche that very few people come close to is that he makes insane beats and raps through them. I don't think his leftist leanings got me into his music - it was that signature cacophony of noise that somehow comes together. The leftist lyrics were just icing on top once I'd already started listening.
I think people are forgetting that he's never said that he's some committed leftist. He's just rapped about shit that makes him angry, and a lot of that stuff has intersection with the left.
