I was already intrigued by this Disco Elysium-inspired, D&D-based RPG where you play as the world's worst cleric, but its demo blew my expectations out of the water
I'm interested. I do wonder if the attribute system of D&D 5E will provide enough granularity for the voices in your head. I'm also definitely seeing more of an "what if Disco Elysium, but D&D?"-vibe rather than merely inspiration. For me personally that means this game will start as an uphill battle simply due to how similar it is, but ultimately the only thing mattering will be the quality of the writing.
The lawyer imp sounds amusing, though when you start thinking too much about stuff like resurrection magic the internal logic of the world usually starts falling apart. But maybe they're leaning into that.
The ads on that page are so shit that I stopped trying to read three paragraphs in after I tried to close the popup, floating, and auto playing video and the x didn't work.
This is why I rarely bother clicking through on articles. So many sites are straight up unusable if they're not accessed through an army of ad/script blockers. Then they whine that you're denying them revenue.
Fwiw, the game is called Esoteric Ebb. Looks interesting.
Haven’t read the article but the “worst Cleric” reminds me of an old YouTube series called JourneyQuest that followed the party of the worst Wizard ever, who was so bad because he had dyslexia and couldn’t read spells correctly.
