My mum had her finger on the lens for all summit photos she took of me.
My mum had her finger on the lens for all summit photos she took of me.
I still love her, though.
The frustration, it's hard to summit up.

Infuriating?? That’s adorable!! One day you might really appreciate that finger in that shot when you think back on your mum.
74 3 ReplyThat's a great point. I appreciate all of the blurry pictures from my late mother-in-law.
17 0 ReplyThink of the thumb as a little ghost of your mum. Making her part of the photo and the moment.

My mom's phone is full of videos of her saying "oh shit" because she meant to take a photo. I really need to make a backup of those for when she's gone.
59 0 ReplyDo it!!! I had 1 recording of my moms voice on her iPhone. Then someone stole the phone. I wish so badly that I could hear her voice, it’s been 10yrs and I’ve forgotten what she sounded like.
10 0 ReplyMy dad practices the guitar every morning. Has since he was in the army.
I’ve been recording him on the sly, for morbid reasons.

The day will come that you cherish those photos more than the rest combined.
30 0 ReplyYou could remove that in post.
25 2 ReplySurely I can do that, but I was still mildly infuriated.
29 0 ReplyOh yeah I get that. I just meant that the pictures are salvageable!

Samsungs object eraser did a good job at cleaning them up in about a minute
21 0 ReplyWas it bright? I've noticed I tend to do this when it's bright and I can't see the phone screen well as a result.

Use stable diffusion generative fill via Google colab to fix it for free and probably spend the next few weeks using it for hours and hours. Enjoy.
17 0 ReplySounds interesting. Any links or good guides on how to do that or how to get started with stable diffusion?
1 0 ReplyThe original guide for the Auto1111 WebUI (the one most people use) is here: https://rentry.co/voldy It's how I got started with it too!
There is also a Docker version maintained by AbdBarho which you can find here: https://github.com/AbdBarho/stable-diffusion-webui-docker (this is what I use now)

Those are super easy to fix. Even the Google eraser could fix those easily.
12 0 Replyyou could also just crop it out in most of them

That used to be mildly infuriating for me but I've been playing with a few photo AI tools and that stuff is easy to fix
7 0 ReplyBy now you can just download a one-click setup for local stable diffusion, wait for it to install, and use the inpainting feature, don't even need proper image editing software.
3 0 ReplyIf you don't mind me asking, do you have a link for the one-click setup please? I don't know where to start, but it sounds interesting :)

Snapseed as well as a plethora of free photo apps can erase those but keep these originals as is for memory

She wanted to be on tghe puctures too. I would be more concerned that she's given your faces the Japanese Testicle treatment.
2 1 ReplyNo worries. Op uploaded their mom fingerprints on the internet as a revenge.
