I'm also on Discord, much as I'd rather not be - as I expect many others here also are.
Lemmy allowed me to cut reddit out completely, because it successfully fills the same purpose for me - a feed of news, information, memes and random stuff, with room for discussion. There may not be as much content as reddit or as many niche communities, but that doesn't matter.
But with Discord, there are specific communities that compel me to stay on Discord, because that's where the people are. I'd love to move entirely to better and more open platforms, but unless those communities move too I can't leave completely.

Had a friend in highschool who did this. Kept up the act the entire time until he graduated. I was two years behind and didn't see him again.
Well, almost 7 years later I'm on hard times and delivering pizza just for some income and, low-n-behold, I see him is name on a delivery. So, I request that I be the one to bring it.
Show up and this chick answers the door. I tell her I'm dude's old friend from HS, so she goes and gets him. We catch up and I make a joke that he finally got a real GF and doesn't need the story about his GF in Canada.
She was the gf from Canada.

I'm meeting a girl (a real one) in half an hour (wouldn't expect a lot of you to understand anyway) so please don't DM me asking me where l am (im with the girl, ok) you'll most likely get aired because ill be with the girl (again l don't expect you to understand) shes actually really interested in me and its not a situation i can pass up for some meaningless Discord degenerates (because ill be meeting a girl, not that you really are going to understand) this is my life now.
