11 years after launch, 49M people still use their PS4s, matching the PS5
  • Sadly, only around 40ish fps on a base model but very cool nonetheless. The framerate and semi-smoothness kinda puts it in an uncanny valley territory for me since it looks smoother but also not smoother at the same time coming from PS5 performance. Lies of P runs a lot better in comparison even though it's graphically more demanding, I assume

  • Actually not anymore. There's been a recent breakthrough that led to a new exploit up to 11.00 being possible now. 11.00 is from, like, late 2022 I think? Obviously not an option if your PS4 has been in regular use recently, but I lucked out and got an 11.00 console from a friend of mine who hadn't been using the PS4 for a while.

If you're on a newer firmware, there is no way of reverting back to 11.00, unfortunately, unless you're up for some soldering.

  • The HDD is replacable and afaik, you can insert an SSD too. Not sure about the sizes, but an internet search should point you the right direction.

Not familiar with NAS. Isn't that some kind of server?

  • Well, obviously piracy if you're into that. Apart from that, using cheats for games, dumping your physical games and having a permanent copy you can use without the CD and an active license (probably possible with a digital game too I assume? not sure), applying patches like a 60fps patch for Bloodborne, emulation of PS1, PS2, PSP and a bunch of other consoles etc etc.

Running Linux if you're that kind of person :P

  • If any of you guys have a PS4 lying around gathering dust, consider jailbreaking it. Depending on the firmware, it is pretty easy to do and opens up a lot of possibilities. Surely better than being neglected :)

Edit: Firmwares up to 11.00 are jailbreakable as of recently. 11.00 is from around late 2022, so if you have a console that hasn't been in use since then, there's a good chance you can jailbreak it. Base model, Slim, or Pro - doesn't matter

  • Mostly fine, I'm only 25 though too :D

  • What is your opinion on Lies of P?
  • Oh lol, that sucks. Good thing I don't have to worry about that

I was a little sceptical about the game because while not actively trying to be Bloodborne 2, the media and fans have been hyping it up to be. After trying the demo, I wasn't really convinced either since the game felt quite clunky to me and the mechanics hadn't hooked me in.

Now after having jailbroken my PS4 and having given Lies of P another try, I'm actually quite enjoying my time. The mix of bleak atmosphere and colour palette paired with music very reminiscent of Bloodborne, the parry mechanic that reminds me a lot of Sekiro when it comes to boss attacks and their timings, and the new mechanics - like a free heal after dealing enough damage when out of heals - that add a certain quality of life to the genre, makes me enjoy my time quite a lot so far.

Mind you, I've only played for around 3h or so, but what I've seen so far has been convincing, indeed.

Have you guys given Lies of P a try? What is your opinion on the game? Where would you rank it in your Souls tierlist?

    Sounds like a dealbreaker
  • There's a bunch of vegan feta cheeses in Germany. The one we've been buying the most recently is from Lidl's own vegan brand "Vemondo" and costs like 1,30€ for 150g. It's really good - melts the same as "og" feta, has a good consistency when raw, and tastes like actual feta.

  • I'm gonna have to try that falafel sauce recipe sometime - sounds delish

  • Update on the short-lived, failed experiment

Yea, that wasn't what I was expecting and the feedback has, obviously, not been all too positive from what I could gather. I have deleted the RSS feed for now.

No promises yet, but I spoke to the instance admit about this who might have a solution. I'll update you guys once I know more.

My rule for happiness these past few weeks

I've enjoyed listening to drum n bass and related music genres my whole life and have recently started obsessing over it a lot. The Amen Break is just so versatile and used across so many different genres
