Stormy Tan Oils? Is that you?
Toronto Sun conservative rag with a BlogTO style of article citing random online commentors! You've got a masterpiece on outrage journalism, right there!
Park admission is ridiculously cheap compared to any activity. You're going to be spending much more in the gas getting there and the food you eat. What are these online commentors on about?
I get that conservatives don't like sharing anything but hate, but we have such a vast bounty of nature with plenty to go around. Let new Canadians enjoy it and be proud for all of us.
You know what, that would be a perfect mother or fathers day gift every year for any data hoarder. Happy Parity Day!
Your elderly parents should really check their God Positioning System to see if attitudes like "fuck my neighbours, fuck all future generations, I got mine" will set them on a course to Heaven...
I feel for the locals, the casino is just a terrible idea and the fact that residents are being pushed out by airbnb and high rents really sucks for them.
Israeli officials charged that its terms were “far from” their “obligatory demands.”
Those Israeli obligatory demands being starving and killing thousands of civilian men, women and children in Rafah.
It will be interesting to see how our legislators react to this anyway. We should expect to see an official response from Parliament at minimum.
Yeah it likely is. For whatever reason it's only open for a handful of weeks so I'm trying to remind anyone that hasn't signed but wanted to or told their friends about it before it closes.
Tim Hortons is Burger King now...
I can't really hate their food offerings but they've been just meh since 15 years ago yet they still act like the hot shit they were before.
Roll up the rim is a digital scam now so that's great.
Hahahaha too true... sometimes I'm one of those going like "oooh, shiny illegal broadcast over there"
That would be nice for sure. Even just an offline single player mode with only some features for unsupported software would be a great start rather than being unplayable entirely.
Slightly separately but interestingly: Bill C-244 (44-1) and C-294 (44-1) are two bills in the Senate I've been following, that are related to the Copyright Act, for diagnostic/repair and interoperability respectively. Just today they have moved through a 2nd reading in the Senate so one step closer to a final vote and passage. If these bills pass, as far as I understand it, even if companies aren't obliged to provide every feature, circumventing DRM for the purpose of troubleshooting, making operable (fixing), and making interoperable software people have a license to use, would no longer be against The Copyright Act here.
Even if the legal conclusion ends up universally being, "own nothing and be happy", it will be a step up if any country can get games-as-a-service type software to display upfront an expiry date or minimum guaranteed usability date. People will be more informed in what they're actually getting, and companies can find ways to make their game usable for longer (like an offline mode or dedicated server self host file) so that they can avoid needing to put the date on.
It's nice that he can run a one person show. It might be more variety of work but dealing with insurance paperwork sounds like a second job in itself.
I think if more primary care physicians can go back to a no insurance, flat-fee model and insurance is saved for urgent, emergency, specialized and long term care then Americans can live healthier and save money (neither of which is good in the eyes of for-profit healthcare and insurance), doctors and general practitioners will actually do what they enjoy and all around increase the efficiency of healthcare in the US.
A petition for folks who live with me in the Great White North (Canada): https://www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/en/Petition/Details?Petition=e-4965
For my Commonwealth mates across the other pond (UK): https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/659071/
Luckily these two petitions are a little more lenient on the deadlines than the Aussie one.
This petition is part of the Stopkillinggames.com campaign led by Scott Ross (Accursed Farms), to end in Australia the practice of software licensors to render purchased software completely unusable at arbitrary points in time.
This petition closes relatively soon so please get the word out to your fellow mates.
Thank you!
A couple more petitions for my Commonwealth Fedizens:
Aussie Petition (Closes 20 May 2024!) https://www.aph.gov.au/e-petitions/petition/EN6080
UK Petition (closes 16 Oct 2024): https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/659071/
Petition E-4965 is the one that is posted to stopkillinggames.com, Ross Scott (Accursed Farms)'s campaign to end the practice of bricking games people have purchased, whenever the publisher doesn't want to support it anymore.
It is open for signing by Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents, until September 5th 2024.
Please spread the word to your Canadian friends and family who take interest in games, and please add your name to it to support this campaign to help preserve games in some form in perpetuity.
Thank you!
Thanks, I had Black Desert Online written off my list years ago.
It's nice to have information available on the Fediverse for any Linux Gamer looking to find a solution to play this.
They got so cheesed after Nvidia shipped the device with the RCM exploit.
They did also reportedly say they were making offline mode.
They were also in the midst of making the cure for microtransaction cancer.
And they were putting final touches on the solution to homelessness the week before they were closed.
What I wouldn't do for an AoE or Halo Wars series game on a StarCraft engine and control scheme...
You might be able to try a "demo" of v rising 1.0.0.79266-b23 before you buy...

>In 1974, Ivan Illich wrote that the typical American male spent 25% of his waking life either driving a car or working for the income required to pay for one. 50 years later, is this true? And, which cities consume the most -- and least -- of our time with driving?

Yes there are other big oligopoly chains like metro, Sobeys/Safeway, Pattison, but I think it's best to start with one major chain to see how much coordinated action can affect them.
The new early bird train is scheduled to start running May 27.
Train #641 is being introduced starting May 27th, 2024, which departs Ottawa at 4:15, Kingston at 6:15, arriving in Toronto at 8:48am, which would be useful for anyone trying to get into a Toronto downtown office at 9am.

Has anyone bought from here before? Looking to upgrade my NAS drives.
Costs I estimate to be typical for 1 HDD, about 120USD which is about 170CAD
For 5 HDDs, I estimate about 485USD which is about 685CAD.
Ymmv, and these drives are if you just want bulk capacity at the lowest price over all else.
Bonus points if there's a known onomatopoeia to describe the sound.

Here's a table I adapted from Louis Rossman's video on the levels of piracy, grey areas and his morals and ethics on it. (spreadsheet file)
I tried to condense each rank and make it less about a specific type of media like CD audio or DVD video, along with a table of simplified characteristics of each situation. Of course more levels can be added and there are many situations not covered. This hierarchy is simply the way Louis ordered it from more to less justifiable; he respects people can think about it differently and I do too. He suggests that he doesn't really care about people that pirate without giving a shit about creators, and that he only has a problem with people who aren't honest with themselves about their motivations.
Setting legality aside, what 'level of piracy' is morally or ethically acceptable to you?

Would money be better allocated building shiny new routes or to focus more on keeping our existing routes in optimal shape?
Just posting to see if people would be interested in screenshots and a custom livery I made. I really enjoy the fact that Train Sim DLC is forwards comptaible, and in the latest version you can mix and match your consist for interesting passenger and freight services.

What are your experiences as to what may contribute to higher or lower fatality rates?
