I'm amazed anyone is left in the US government that can even be capable of doing mediation. I would assume they'd get advice like hey, if India and Pakistan both become the 51st and 52nd state then you won't have to fight anymore
India and Pakistan aren't known for having white people. Trump would have little interest in making them states.
I don't think Trumf has gone through the ambassador core yet. So it was probably the US ambassadors in that area.
