  Honda's electric output here in Europe is close to nothing and what there is is dreadful. The little Honda E was cute but not very practical and far too expensive.

Why compete at all? I think the top Chinese state owned car company could do a bang up job if they owned Nissan and Honda

  Not at all. I was just saying that Nissan/Honda aren't even the best car manufacturers in their own country.

  In the West they'd come up with some terrible meaningless name like Stellantis, but Japan has names like Bandai Namco, Sega Sammy Holdings and Square Enix, so Honda Nissan might be a possibility.

I’ve rented a couple Nissans over the past few years and they sucked shit.
Is this going to be like Boeing? Because Honda is pretty fucking good to be merging with Nissan.

- Nope, the American will never accept a foreign made truck. The Toyota had some impeccable indestructible trucks and Ford and Chevy outsold them. At this point you need to sell a truck the size of a school bus to satisfy the average American truck buyer.
  
  as one of thousands of assholes that has such an undying affection for older, light duty trucks that I own one... yes we would. america defacto banned light duty pickups in the 70s with the chicken tax, which is why that market segment vanished by the 90s. I have one of the last ones and it is about 12 months from qualifying for "antique" status.

  the US can't compete with foreign made when it comes to smaller, efficient anything so the regulators stepped in to do protectionism 50 years ago. that's why the only trucks you can find anymore of 4 door, tiny bed monstrosities and a shitload of actual tradesmen are rocking old pickups or fuckin awd subaru hatchbacks.
  
  Not quite true as the Tacoma and Tundra are always among the top 20 best selling cars in America. They aren't perceived as foreign trucks because they are actually as American as they come- they're built in San Antonio and designed for the US market. I often see them used as chudmobiles- full Trump regalia decked out in US flags, Punisher logos, blue line and NRA stickers galore. But yeah, the big 3 domestic trucks do outsell them overall.

  I see Toyota trucks all the time. They’re usually scratched up with toolboxes and shit in the bed. The American trucks are the pristine “pavement princesses” covered in chud stickers.

  I live in a place where way too many people drive pickups, and I've been seeing a lot more new Toyota trucks in the last few years.
  I think it's because they're almost as big as an F-150 now and they sell them with factory lift kits and all the luxury crap that makes them look like any other dumbass Chevy Childsmusher 1500.
  
  Tbf the f150, the most ameriburger vehicle of all, has 22 mpg.
- We already have the Frontier, it doesn't really sell amazingly but it sells.
  I wish we'd get the international market frontier. But instead we're stuck with the same 20 year old car, but with a face lift in like 2020.
  
  Yeah, that's why I think a Honda Frontier with a Honda drivetrain would sell well. Plenty of people want a basic simple small truck but might balk at Nissans due to reputation, earned or otherwise. The Ridgeline isn't quite truck enough so slotting in a body on frame, solid rear axle option to the line-up seems like a home run.
