My old roommate was like that. I gave him a mug and it broke a week later. His water bottle had dents all over it. His computer glass shattered and he blamed his kitten who weighed like 5-6 pounds at the time…. No chance.
I’ve never had a phone’s screen crack, and my water bottle I’ve had for years doesn't have a scratch on it. I found a pair of expensive sunglasses in the street (I got out of my car to get them!), cleaned them up, and used them for like a decade. I don’t understand not taking care of yer things.
He was bragging about how his sunglasses cost $400 dollars, and how he told me that once he stepped on them, so he just bought another pair.
I guess he was trying to show off that he's rich? I just thought it seemed like a waste of money personally.
My side of CA was loaded with douchebags like that that had to tell you that they buy a new iphone every year and ask why you aren't vacationing in Europe to expand your horizons for at least two months out of the year.
Reminds me of a time long ago when a girl at the bar did the same thing to me with her handbag. She flashed the logo and twirled it around a bit and put it over her shoulder and did a little pose. It was nice, she was clearly very excited about her handbag. Might just have been me being young and horny, but I interpreted the situation like she expected me to be really impressed and maybe, you know, make a move on such a classy young lady like herself. Then she leaned in a bit as if to tell a secret, and I was getting fuckin ready to go, and she whispered "it cost 1400€ :P". It was like a flashbang went off in my mind, so all I managed to do was shout "1400 euros?!?! what the fuck is wrong with you!!!!", and she didn't like that. It was the first time that I can remember that I encountered that kind of luxury. 1400 was like almost twice of what I lived off in a month!
"These aviators cost me an additional $5000 in a poker game because the reflection showed the whole table what my hand is every time. Yeah, I'm walking proof you don't need to be smart to be wealthy, please like me."
I've had a guy online tell me that he's worth a few million. I don't doubt it either considering a lot of his daily life lines up with such a claim. I just kinda surprised him when I didn't seem impressed or care. We're still friends, but I really think he wants in my holes >.>
A lot of the men that I've met are really weird like that. They care way too much about money and status symbols. It's quite frankly a turn-off for me.
It's just so sad. I feel bad for them. I mean I'm never going out with guys but like it's just such a 2003 "i read a how to date book by the worst person on earth" move.
"Ok, you have money, but what use are you? Is this it, the most impressive display you can muster to show off? I'd honestly prefer 90 minutes of unhinged rambling about Cicero. which I assume was your plan before the Temu brand Andrew Tate influencer told you to try this."
As general advice, if you want to pick up people of either gender, being able to vaguely pay the rent helps, but mostly people are looking for something that makes you fun to be around (most people can muster this up, even dumbass chuds), and a sign you actually care (or might come to care) about who they are. You can't fake that, you have to care about things.
