What do you think about DXM (for those have have used it recreationally or therapeutically at supra-therapeutic doses)?
Its seems like such an incredible oversight that it ends up OTC unlike codeine in many places when its far more traditionally neurochemically altering.
I'm glad its available and can be used once in a while as a poor-man's ketamine to help recalibrate your affect and mental state and get the neuroplasticity shifting things around.
I am a huge fan of DXM. I have been taking it off and on for the past decade (I'm in my 40s now). The trips are really peaceful for me and relaxing. The best part is the afterglow; the time when the trip is over, but you still feel different. The afterglow feels like I've been reborn; it is mentally cleansing for me. I always feel so bright and happy the day after I do DXM.
Of the 3 main DXM formulations, I enjoy DXM HBr the most, followed by DXM Polistirex, then DXM freebase.
My advice for anyone about to try DXM: start with small doses; give your body time to clear everything before you trip again (at least 2 weeks; a month is better); most importantly, be in a safe headspace.
If you're like me and you cannot stand the taste of Robitussin or Delsym, look into purchasing from RoboCough. They sell DXM (HBr and freebase) in pill form.
Honestly not a fan of dissos. For me it's classic psychedelics all the way, no shrooms either the body load is unbearable, and k has its own bladder problems, so either LSD or DMT for me honestly and both are readily available on DNMs.
It's not a party psychedelic. It's short if you compare it to your typical perception of time, but feels vastly longer; your perception of everything changes. If you take any MAOIs, don't touch DMT. It'll last longer and you'll likely be miserable if you aren't experienced with it.
Also, n,n,dmt gives you more visuals than 5-meo dmt, but 5-meo dmt is better for introspection in my experience. Each have their purpose, and neither should be at all underestimated. If you take either, understand you don't control the trip once you've begun. Let it guide you, accept what happens during it, and find a way to learn from the experience. As with anything, do a lot of research prior to taking it, test it, and use it when you're in a good setting and state of mind for it.
It's like 5 minutes of actual action and 15 more of come up/come down and slightly longer once you "break through". I'd trip several times in a row to make it more interesting. Overall it's nowhere near as intense or as life changing as LSD.
The best bet is do plenty of research and read trip reports. And don't stop reading until you've heard about poor metabolizers and Olney's Lesions (which might not be an issue, but evidently is for other dissos.) And then read some more :) Then you can make a somewhat informed decision about it...
My personal opinion, but dissociatives suck. They're not fun, you're not going to learn or gain anything from it or grow in any way, you'll just be unable to move and have extremely unpleasant hallucinations for a few hours.
Did that shit exactly once, thought I was a fucking boat for 3 hours, really wanted to stop being a boat and couldn't.
You do you, but honestly just get an actual psychedelic. Mushrooms have never let me down.
I have had some neat trips. A few close calls in the beginnings of it all. You do not, under any circumstance, want to risk taking anything but the dxm itself. I cringe thinking about the internet reports where coricidin as a brand are involved.
It's different from ketamine. Much different experience. Almost dirtier or... Hm, a bit more turbulence can be expected.
Somehow I missed that DXM could be used this way. The antidepressant I take includes DXM in it, but clearly not at the level of dosage that you're probably referring to 😅
