Internet forums are disappearing because now it's all Reddit and Discord. And that's worrying.
  • I’m gonna keep posting on Lemmy and hope that helps. Our collective communities should not be in the hands of mega corporations.

  • I hate Kai Wynn with a passion. The character is so well written and acted that I had a visceral reaction whenever she made an appearance. Wynn’s manipulation of religion for her own personal gain struck a special nerve with me.

The same actress played an equally despicable character, Nurse Hatchett Ratched, in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

  • I just switched to Pop OS, any tips on what I should do next?
  • Click the windowing mode icon (far left of the icons in the top right) and switch that bad boy to tiled windowing mode. Tiled windows will feel odd for a couple of days, but once you switch back to free-floating windows you’ll realize why I’m recommending tiled.

Look up the PopOS keyboard shortcuts for moving tiled windows around the desktop and workspaces. It’s a game-changing way to use your computer.

PopOS has been my daily driver for a year. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

  • The cultured wars: Why lab-grown meat is inspiring bipartisan hate
  • According to Nature, the products begin with a small sample of animal cells, typically muscle cells, which are cultured in a controlled environment like a bioreactor. Provided with nutrients and a scaffold for support, these cells multiply and differentiate into muscle tissue over the course of several weeks.

Anyone know what the scaffold is made out of? The nature article is paywalled.

  • Boeing forced to scrub first crewed Starliner launch to the space station
  • As much as I’d love to pile on Boeing, the article states the launch was scrubbed due to an issue with ULA’s rocket not the Boeing capsule payload.

  • The Dark Riker Rises
  • Ah you think space is your ally? You merely adopted the expanse. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see all four llights until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but blinding!

  • Don’t worry, will smith didn’t participate in this game either.

  • PopOS is already my daily driver. I’m really excited to see System76 put the effort into Cosmic DE.

  • Uvalde schoolchildren were massacred under a sheriff’s watch. He was still undefeated on Super Tuesday
  • Was there nobody else willing to stand up and do the job? Even someone in the same party, with the same principles should be able to look at an assessment of the Sheriff’s department’s actions and realize a leadership change is necessary for the general safety of the community.

If you are a conservative living in Uvalde, Texas with a couple of kids, wouldn’t you want the peace of mind to know the local Sheriff’s office is under new management?

I wouldn’t feel safe having my kid in school with that guy in charge.

  • Roku disables TVs and streaming devices until users consent to new terms
  • Rtings is a good site for tv reviews across a wide range of price levels. I’ve used several their reviews to make purchases and have been satisfied thus far.

  • How do you deal with the bottom sheet on your bed?

It always wants to ride up the sides of my bed because elastic never wants to hold it in place. When I wash and dry my sheets it inevitably spirals up in the washer and dryer so it never washes or dries properly. Then it’s a pain in the ass to try and fold neatly.

I feel like I’m failing adulthood after being bested by a bedsheet.
