I don't track individual users, I just use the freely available .ml RSS feed, I forget about you until the next time you pop in my notifications like just now lol

Jet has not posted to crows, Jet is not even a party to this cross-posting from the perspective of a poster, they have not been posting to a .ml comm so I have not crossposted any of their posts

Well it's had a noticeable effect, .ml traffic is way down since when I started 5 months ago, .ml memes has gone from ranking 14th to near 30th

.world does not have a censorship issue, I can confidently say after being heavily in the modlog for months now. I don't see .world admins in the modlog micromanaging everything to push harmful propaganda.

I encourage everyone who sees this go-to lemmy.world/modlog and put dessalines or davel in the "mod" box (one of the only instance that doesn't have this disabled btw) and see for yourself.

I cross-post to reduce the influence of .ml comms and indirectly the instance as a whole to make it an easier decision for other instance admins to defederate because one key reason I identified that admins don't want to defederate, is because .ml still has some very large comms and some niche comms

Whatever harm you think this does to the Lemmy-verse pales in comparison to the harm .ml and the behavior of its admins does because of its association with the devs of Lemmy and their insistence to use .ml as their personal political platform

On the outside, bringing up Lemmy always leads to comments like "Lemmy? Isn't that the place with a bunch of tankies?" Or "Tried Lemmy, but found it full of pro Russia crap so I left"

In some cases, I cross post from the infamous Yogthos who has been widely site banned and won't show as a crosspost to anyone on an instance that has banned them

In other cases, I crosspost from users who are on instances that either aren't widely federated with (Beehaw) or intentionally widely defederated from (Grad, hex). It won't show up as a crosspost in those cases either

Yea fuck it, I was planning on launching a meme instance soon because I also have the perfect meme domain (don't ask me how many domains I have)

But now I'm shelving that and revitalizing my ST instance plans instead.

I had wanted to start a Star Trek instance because I have a domain with LCARS in it that would be fitting, but I never got around to it because startrek.website existed

I think Star Trek fandom is big enough for a focused instance, just not 2 of em lmao

Hmm you can get around that comm ban by spreading a link that goes through another instance, because lemmy.ml blocks !meanwhileongrad@sh.itjust.works for pretty much the same reasons (Can't let your captive audience know of the outside dissent!)

Kinda, Infowars/Alex Jones was in court and being ordered to sell off their assets to pay the Sandy Hook lawsuit. The Onion put in a bid along with another company that "Totally has no association with Alex Jones", The Onion's bid was higher than this other company, but the judge basically said "Um actually, no you can't have it" and froze their bid on a technicality
