Has anyone gotten used to it yet? It seems better in some ways but I can’t really say until I’ve had time to get used to it. The live trackers were handy to check if they were running late before I’d leave the house.

- Long-term trend of alcohol consumption decline in Ireland, down by 30% in the past 20 yearswww.irishexaminer.com Off-license consumption fuelling rise in non-alcoholic drinks as demand for 0.0% alternative sees post-pandemic surge
Non-alcoholic beer sales rose by 18% in 2023, with growth accelerating even further in recent months
Some interesting trends here that I wasn't aware of. Eg: "Alcohol consumption in Ireland is now less than the United Kingdom and most other European countries, including Spain, France, and Germany."
After years of not bothering with alcohol I tried some of the alcohol-free versions of those drinks and the difference was negligible but the next morning was a lot more pleasant.
The original article title is "Off-license consumption fuelling rise in non-alcoholic drinks as demand for 0.0% alternative sees post-pandemic surge", but I took an interesting quote from the article for the title of this post.
- [Person I have a community for will have an event here: Katie Halper] The Fumbally is a café, a shop, an event space, a kitchen, a community of people who come and go and help us evolve along the way.
>The Fumbally is a café, a shop, an event space, a kitchen, a community of people who come and go and help us evolve along the way.
>Luca and Aisling took over a vacant building on the corner of Fumbally lane in 2012 after years of working together in festivals and travelling the world to bring back ideas. Dinners with friends and visits to small farms and producers in various different countries is where it all began. The Fumbally family has been made up of many different iterations of chefs, artists and all round passionate people over the years and together we have been feeding the neighbourhood of Dublin 8 since the café first opened its doors – music gigs, exhibitions, markets, workshops and collaborations in tow.
>The Fumbally Stables was created in 2015, an old stables building next door to the café that allowed us to explore more of the cultural and education based work that we are interested in. From yoga and meditation classes to talks, film screenings, food event series and fermentation workshops, The Stables has become the supporting right hand of The Fumbally and allows us to continue to be more than just a café.
>In 2020 as the world flipped, so did we
>We had to reinvent ourselves, like everyone else. So we switched over to The Fumbally Shop which kept us going through the pandemic selling fresh produce and dishes from a take-away kitchen. The shop is now here to stay and the new Fumbally is both a café and somewhere you can do your weekly shopping. Thanks to the expansion of our wine shelves our dinners have also gotten a little bit more interesting and our love and support of natural wines will play a central role in any future evening endeavours.
>A bit about our ethos
>We place a huge amount of emphasis on our relationships with suppliers. These can be local or further afield, but it is the human connections that make our supplier relations strong – local, sustainable and organic are not just buzz words – they are a real and tangible way of engaging in the world. We align with them in any way we can. Having said that, we are not exclusively organic nor local with our produce. Because choices in these areas can be complex and we are ok with making compromises sometimes.
>We believe in sharing our success with our staff. This is why we have a profit share scheme that all staff members are entitled to partake in once they have worked in the company for one year or more.
>We run a circular kitchen. This means there is no head chef, rather our chefs work alongside each other sharing responsibility and creative input and move around different roles in the kitchen.
>Our food is honest and no frills. Sometimes we like to get all fancy. But mostly its simple and thoughtful and what happens before it comes to us is just as important as what happens after.

- Relationship Advice Requested
Lads, ladettes, and enbies, I come to you seeking advice. My wife and I are just back to County America after visiting her family in the North. Upon discovering that our tea jar was empty, she proceeded to order some Barry's. Am I now legally required to file for divorce?
More seriously, what is everyone's favorite tea (and why is it Lyon's)? And favorite thing to go along with it?

I hope I'm not upsetting anyone with this question. I was just browsing the All feed, and found !ireland@lemmy.ml, which also seems to have some activity.
Are you guys aware of this other community? Do you keep separated on purpose?
Just asking because I was thinking whether I should add both to the sidebar of !yurop@lemm.ee or not

- Anyone have advice on getting a new job in Ireland?
Currently working a remote job that I hate. Management takes micromanagement to a whole new level. They're based in the US so I get paid in Dollar but I also don't have any legal protection.
I've got a side hustle (videography) that I'm trying to build into my main gig.
My previous experience has been in tech (in various roles). Ranging from customer support/content moderation to management. I also have some more technical experience with automation.
My LinkedIn is up-to-date but I don't seem to be getting past the automated systems and to the interview stage
EDIT: My instance (lemdro.id) is having issues with lemmy.world so I don't always see the updates from lemmy.world straight away. It's generally about a 6 hour delay.
EDIT 2: I’ve created another account on Lemmy.World (@governorkeagan_@lemmy.world) so that I can interact here while my instance fixes the federation issue.

- Future of the community
It’s great seeing more engagement and activity here recently!
It seems like the mod isn’t active anymore and aussie.zone has offered to create a community for us - I think it’d be hilarious having the Irish community there.
More importantly though, I think having an active more (or multiple) is really important.
I’m not a mod (happy to help though) but I’d love to see what others think about the future of our community.
