How do I cope with the Steam Community?
  • I'm also not a fan of memes, but I acknowledge that many other people are. The most I can do is block communities that are expressly for memes and shrug off the rest. There's plenty of other places for grouches like us.

  • Recommendations?: Cloud-based storage + doc editor + spreadsheets

I'm in the process of de-googling, and for the most part I'm pretty okay with using separate services for things like email, photos, calendar, etc... but the few things that I really like having bundled are Google Docs and Sheets in my Google Drive.

There's plenty of good alternatives for cloud storage, but I haven't seen any that come with any sort of office-like products. I know that I can self host my own private cloud storage and something like OpenOffice, but I'm hoping to find an existing cloud solution so I don't have to bother with that maintenance.

    Any recommendations?

    Is Craigslist dying?
  • You're right that there's a lot of spam, but I use Craigslist all of the time for finding stuff like furniture, tools, appliances, etc. Still seems pretty good in those categories.

  • Meet the influencer who "reverses" lupus—with smoothies
  • On one hand, there will always be idiots and those who will take advantage of them.

On the other hand, I think less people would be susceptible to "alternative" remedies if there was more trust in the medical industry. That trust has been eroded quite a bit over the years.

  • Alerts for expeditions?

I tend to not hear about expeditions until it's too late... does anyone know of a way to get email or push notifications for upcoming expeditions?

The Fairphone experiment is changing the tech industry
  • I think the question is: how much of this change can really be attributed to Fairphone? The right to repair fight has been gaining momentum for some time, and while Fairphone may be helping somewhat, it also feels like it's just riding the wave.

  • Need help finding story
  • Sorry, this doesn't sound at all familiar to me... have you tried one of the groups on Goodreads? There's one called "what's the name of that book?" that has a ton of members and will likely get you any answer.

  • Goodbye Spotify
  • I switched to Tidal a while ago, mainly because they seem to pay the artists better than most other services. They are lacking many of the convenient features of other services, like controlling the app on my pc from my phone, or collaborative playlists, but I've gotten used to not having those. I would definitely recommend if you're just looking for a way to stream music without cheating the artists.
