I tried to give my old Wii and games to my 11 year old son, he refused them.
  • If you’re into censorship or novellas. Check out China, or Mexico. You seem to be accustomed to those sorts of things. I’m white (non-Chinese and non-Latina to make my point here). I don’t think we share the same culture where women are expected to be silent for strange men who demand it. Try moving to the Middle East, if that’s the culture you prefer. Lemmy allows free speech. I shared a post, and if you can’t handle it, advert your eyes from it. You have the freedom to censor what you view. Have you considered the v-chip for your TV, too?

  • I tried to give my old Wii and games to my 11 year old son, he refused them.
  • He could buy new games if he hates mine. I’m the mom, not “pops” as you suggested. I know Lemmy hates straight tomboy types, so I won’t entertain anymore of your comments that follow this comment of mine.

  • I tried to give my old Wii and games to my 11 year old son, he refused them.
  • Yes, I am. You don’t know me well enough to judge my mental capabilities and my ability to parent. I actually put this Wii away for about eight years to focus on my college education. I currently have earned a master’s degree in addition to bachelor’s degree in a STEM field. I also am certified to work with children in an educational setting. My fingerprints also clear with DOJ each year so I can continue to do that. That takes maturity. Attacking an internet stranger like you have done doesn’t take much maturity or education.

Also, if you think you’re a better adult than anyone else on Lemmy, then answer this: When was the last time you gave blood? Did you even try to register as a bone marrow donor? Have you tried to enlist to serve your country? When was the last time you volunteered for an organization that works for the greater good? Have you ever had to file a CPS report for a child that told you he, or she, was being abused? Hey, beat me on this one: Have you adopted or fostered a child? I have yet to do that one.

  • I tried to give my old Wii and games to my 11 year old son, he refused them.
  • His grandmother has ruined his life and has robbed me of motherhood for nearly the past seven years. This is the final straw. All I want is dna on my kids to be added to ancestry.com after being kept from them for so long. I get that she didn’t want me to try to join the Army. She didn’t need to cut me out of my children’s lives. Now I have a Nintendo Wii thrown back at me today. If she isn’t happy with how I am now as an adult, how is her child rearing going to change to prevent that with my two kids? I wouldn’t be surprised if someone swapped my kids under her senile supervision in these past years. I seriously want dna kits taken on everyone in the family. If the kits don’t match to me, I’m suing.

  • I tried to give my old Wii and games to my 11 year old son, he refused them.

Free. All free to him. He said, “no”. He didn’t want them. I want a dna test more than ever now, and I’m the parent that birthed my son.

A bit of a weird question: Can modern medicine be a threat to humanity long-term by greatly reducing effects of natural selection?
  • First of all, it isn’t “bro”. Secondly, I’m trying to make a point that valuing the mental capabilities of people is worth mentioning, when the OP seems to dwell on the physical worth of a human. Part of the evolutionary process is long-term problem solving skills, isn’t it? We create ways to resuscitate people, cures for diseases, and solutions for other medical problems. OP insists that gives us weaker people that continue living in our society? Weaker in what regard? If all cancer is suddenly cured, then which people are weaker? I knew a girl that had an intellectual disability, but was fairly physically fit. She could run well, and walked and talked as well as most people. Would you want to encourage her to have children, while discouraging some woman with breast cancer from having children?

I think I understood OP fairly well. I just question if he wants to limit procreation amongst the disabled. Remember that Hitler wanted to do that.

  • A bit of a weird question: Can modern medicine be a threat to humanity long-term by greatly reducing effects of natural selection?
  • I don’t think I misunderstood. You see dropping dead as your prize for losing in some type of social Darwin competition. You don’t see medical advances and life saving measures as being part of our evolution, as a species, to better survive? No offense, but regardless of how you feel about being resuscitated, some paramedic, or other first responder is still going to try to save your life. They can’t exactly stop the process and ask you for your opinion if you have no pulse, dude.

  • I'm not the aww here; the fact the cat let a four year old do this, shows he deserves more than an "aww".
  • Please don’t use my name in online comments. I appreciate your view on that, but I feel that having a shaved head is more hygienic. It also has allowed me to point out the difference in head shape and features between myself and the two individuals who raised me. It’s a family discussion that has been delayed for far too long throughout my life. When people comment about my shaved head now, I like to remind them that many people lose their hair to cancer and the rest of the world should help them to feel as though being bald is normal, too. It’s a normal hair style. Let’s start accepting it as normal. Speaking of which, have you joined National Marrow Donor Program yet?

  • He had his last dose of round 1 amoxicillin
  • Thank you! I was so worried he wouldn’t make it through the infection. I thought it was going to be much worse, after I first realized he was attacked by something. I’m surprised, and glad, to see how fast his face healed. He isn’t completely healed yet. His jaw bone is still heavily infected, and teeth need to be removed. It’s going to be a long summer.

    The Future of Sportsball
  • I had public college softball in mind when I wrote this. They aren’t billionaires. With all of the attention that baseball and football receive, they would just appreciate the fans being there to support them in the stands, let alone the money made from ticket sales.

  • I was awarded my 3 gallon award today for blood donations.

I am truly honored. I hope every blood donation I gave was able to help save a life. I always wonder about how the recipients are doing, and what circumstances led them to need a life saving blood transfusion. The blood bank keeps all of that private for security reasons, of course, along with the name of the donors who donate. I just hope it all helped.

After the past nine years, and having a family, I think I'm sick of California

It has been really difficult to live in a state that is notorious for gangs, especially gangs that don’t resemble me. It is even more difficult when it comes time to apply for a job and I am faced with hiring committees that often are dominated by one gang, or another. It is even worse when it is a gang that seems to have money and power in this state. I was denied a summer job today after being interviewed by a team of all Latino managerial staff members. I have never been one to say I felt uncomfortable being the only white person, and only female, in an interview session, but I feel like I need to say it now. It made me uncomfortable. I could see them exchange looks to one another, while on the virtual camera, as if to insinuate that I didn’t fit in with their clique. I had the qualifications as a first responder for this job position, and have been previously employed by that employer. I even made a rescue that was noted in a previous year. I hate to say that, because it sounds like bragging, but it is part of my job experience.

I know someone is going to comment to the effect of, “why can’t you just apply in another California city where the hiring committee looks more like you?” My answer: “you want me to go apply in the hills and hope the skins take pity on me?” My blood type is NOT rh+. Why does that matter? Because California is full of blood gangs. There. I said it. I can’t just go sit at a different lunch table with all the other white people, as a metaphor for this instance. I’m not one of them, and it has been like this my whole life. So who can I sit with? I hate to make employment sound like a prison yard from a TV show here, but in some ways it is.

I used to think it was just the way my peers behaved in high school, but I soon realized girls on my volleyball team would never speak to me because it less about “people who went to their church”, and more about people who were part of their blood gang. Their church was a cover for a white blood gang where everyone was rh+. I was more than welcome to play tennis, even though many of my teammates didn’t look like me. Why? Because they weren’t part of some huge blood gang that was pretending to be a clique formed around a church group. Where are they now? Who knows. Maybe they joined that “church”, or maybe they moved out of California and had families of their own. Well, why doesn’t my older sister have these problems, then? She isn’t my biological sister. Apparently, she’s just a distant cousin that was raised with me, but I’m not really supposed to discuss it. There are a lot of issues like that with family, and how people are related, or not related.

Long story short, I feel like I need to move to another state. So where to? Alabama? Texas? North Carolina? I’m a registered democrat who gives blood every eight weeks to save the lives of newborns at the children’s hospital in this area. Most of the time, the babies saved by my blood are Latino/Latina. Oh, and the child I rescued in 2021, was African American. It doesn’t matter. As soon as groups (god forbid I say gangs) see my face, all they care about is the fact that I don’t look like everyone around here. Suddenly, I’m the enemy and I didn’t even do anything wrong. I’ve spent my whole life in California, for the most part. I have over 600 relatives in the South. You think they want to meet me? You think they’d like me? No, probably not. So where the hell am I supposed to go?!?

Every time I stand near the kitchen and then later start to call his name, he hides. He knows his antibiotic is in the fridge.

I deleted pasts posts with personal information in them after at least two users admitted to doxing me

After two users admitted to doxxing me, and another admitted to digging through all of my past posts and comments, I decided to deleted my past posts. One user put my name, and my husband’s name into a comment box on one of my posts, and then tried to claim he hadn’t doxxed me for that information.

Another user decided to stalk my page, and then followed me to a post about my cat, where he proceeded to tell me I needed mental help for all of my other posts and comments. I called him out for stalking my page and digging through all of my past posts and comments in order to tell me that. I think stalkers need mental help, and a Lemmy user named Steak is totally a stalker. So to prevent people like that from digging through all of my past comments and posts, I have decided to delete many of them. Stalking is a mental illness, and many Lemmy readers don’t want to admit that. I hope readers like him seek mental help. There isn’t something wrong with searching for a missing spouse. There is something wrong with stalking and doxing a woman you’ve never met.

We all thought we were cool for being date-less at prom.

Early 2000’s. Is this old enough for old school cool? We all decided to go as a group for prom, with no one having a date.

The Garden of Eden was based on The Galápagos Islands.

I’m kidding here, but the similarities are odd. The weather is always between 70F and 85F all year round. The biggest threat to you on the island are apples. You shouldn’t eat the apples that grow on the island; the small green ones are poisonous. Oh, and it isn’t easy to immigrate there. It’s a place where only few people are allowed to reside. Oh, and did I mention the abundant variety of plants and animals on the island?

After years of being told I was part Cherokee, someone was mad that I wasn't.

He is now denying the validity of dna tests. I don’t want to say the past 35 years of having him treat me worse than he treats his sister had anything to do with his assumptions of my dna, but he was upset to learn that I am more Irish than him. I wonder what he thought of my mother before these results…

My elderly relative is already growing frustrated with her. He suggested putting her outside again.
