What's the point in growing fruit trees up front if people aren't allowed to pick them at leisure? It's a good chunk of why I'd love to live in a suburb again.
My neighbour used to have a peach tree growing in their yard over the fence and were stupidly protective of it. They didn't harvest the peaches from my side, they just didn't want anyone taking them. Then because the tree was covered in peaches, cockatoos came and ate them all, ripping branches off the tree and killing it in the process. I'm sure there's some kind of lesson in there somewhere...
We grow grapes in our yard. People steal them, but it’s a shame because we have never refused someone who asked for some. My father used to go out and pick them for you even.
Most of the fruit is eventually claimed by the ants and birds.
