That sounds like "dig in, your first opinion was right" but all verbally prettied up.
Opinions/Views are not something you stand for and hold on to recklessly. Like scientific consensus, you should discard them like meaningless scraps of paper whenever you find a better one to carry about.
Now, fighting for good things in the world is definitely a thing that needs doing, but if it turns out you've been pushing the wrong side of an issue you should stop the very second you realize that.
I interpret it slightly differently: having a wrong opinion is better than having no opinion, because you can change your mind. Still not sure how much I agree, but it's at least debatable
The people I know who don't really know anything (uneducated) actually don't believe most factual things. They invent their own explanations about things, based on their ignorance, and then reject factual information since it would require them to acknowledge that their invented understanding is inaccurate.
