idk if this is just a western military thing but aren't you supposed to soak your beret and wear it to form it to your head and prevent wrinkles? and also, isn't the insignia supposed to be on the front and not the side? i genuinely have no idea about the military traditions of these countries so they are probably to their own standards.

I honestly don't get the practical point of a beret. Not big enough to keep your head warm but also provides no shade.
It looks cool but that's about it.
- Military berets used to be bigger and provided some shade, but in modern times they’re used because they’re cool. Really the SAS made them popular in culture and now they’re associated with elite units as a status symbol. I’m not sure about African nations history with using them, but I assume it’s just colonialism and the elite status from before.
- I wear one working in kitchens. I hate hats and it's hot so my thin ass beret doesn't get me too sweaty under the hat like most and it makes anyone who doesn't know any better think I'm.in charge cause I'm.the only one wearing a beret.

Basically zero. They're not at that point rn. If China is just starting to gently press the communism button again there isn't a chance of a developing nation doing so without adequate productive forces. Nationalizing extraction and essential industry and doing land reforms are first and foremost. Just pressing the dotp button immediately wouldn't work, the conditions of not being absolutely bulldozed by the west need to be met first.
