It drives me nuts that businesses are unwilling to invest in the next generation of workers. There is a serious lack of traing and mentorship. Then, without an ounce of irony, management will complain about the quality of cost of candidates.
The next generation? They aren't even willing to invest in the current lol. They don't give two shits. They will a use people nonstop, and people CONTINUE buying shit...like what in the hell...
People are honestly stupid AF. Bare necessities. Stop...buying...anything...but survival. Seriously...it's so messed up.
Black jack and hookers are my bare necessities.
Businesses aren't investing in the future generations for the same reasons that any politician capable of doing anything meaningful has fucked off into retirement. No point in spending your last minutes on the Titanic doing repairs. The greedy and powerful are smashing and grabbing and burning though human resources like it's the end of the world, because it is. And the rest of us are smoking em if we got em.
It's only the end of the world when people give up. There's plenty left to do, at least if you're willing to make the effort.
same thing they wont do anything for low birth rates, its just half-assed attempt, or using culture wars, or actual wars a distraction. Also the reason they dont want to fund schools most of the time, and this not only in red areas, blue areas are underfunded. if teachers are getting such a low-starting salaries in thier contracts, the districts underfunded. (i met a former co-worker that confirmed this as a teacher she refused to work in a dangerous district and also because the pay was so low.) this was a blue area.
they got lazy, and dont want to spend any money doing mentorships, or whatever to jumpstart someones career. hence alot of people in stems dont go further than thier degree, because theres no experience you can even get outside of a school. they dont ahve the advantages of programmers/software who can get experience,c ertifications outside of school(you have to be undergrad to work in a lab that already very limited space, and its usually full), also dont expect getting a masters will help too.
It's a real shame. There are tons of motivated, talented people entering the workforce who would be great with a little professional training and support. Boeing had a pilot program a while back where they did intense training with new hires early in their career. That program produced really great team members - any of whom I'd fight to have on my team. I hope others start similar programs.
They are parasites, why would you expect anything of them?
Really, I should employ someone, I almost had a panic attack last month with the pressure I'm under, but I can't offer stability so I keep it to my self
I'd honestly suggest you consider doing it any way. Like this post is saying there are lots of kids who are languishing and would take even a volatile position as it is experience. If you're open and honest with how insecure the position is, I believe you'll find people who will meet you where you are.
That's assuming you have the bandwidth and temperment to mentor.
