Comprehensive nesting category system made on PieFeed

Here is the outcome from the brief chat I had here.

This is not finished - not in categories, not in organisation, not in communities, but I'm getting exhausted currently. Many communities on here are old, dead, tired. Some are new. Many categories are barren, some are overfilled and need more segmentation. I'm just sharing what I've built as I think this could be very helpful to community advertisement and exploration.

I'd like anyone who runs or knows of communities to let me know here, so I can add them.

- Some were already in, but have been added to online media (under entertainment -> media) and medical respectively (blood donors)

IMO "Gaming" should be it's own top category. I can help with this one if needed.
"Collapse" should probably be removed as a top level category. It's not relevant for top level.
Not sure how "Regional" would function. Regional implies your local communities, but I am assuming it leads to multiple region specific communities irrespective of where you are.
"Music" might be a simply top level category to add. I can help with this one if needed.
Not sure what communities fall under Technology. I can provide a broader selection of choices if needed.
- How would I organise "Collapse"? It is basically a place for doomer-climate-collapse communities and a few prepper places atm. It's a hybrid of lifestyle, environmentalism and anti-capitalism/doomerism etc.
  "Regional" leads to national communities. Canada, USA, UK etc.

  Music and Video Games are under "Entertainment" atm, but sure. Ideas?

  I would remove collapse. IMO it's not something that is relevant to the social media experience. People who are looking for a collapse style community can find it on their own.
  I think regional works fine as is. What I am referring to is probably outside of the scope of the discussion.

  I'm sure I suggested this to you in the matrix, but also allowing multiple parent feeds would be ideal.
  So I would put "Star Wars" as a child of both "Fandom" and "Sci-Fi"

  I wonder if it can be done on !ibis@lemmy.ml and then that information gets pulled through to another site where it could be used for filtering. And/or, as Ibis now federates with Lemmy (see !wiki@test.ibis.wiki), it would just appear on here anyway and you could search "political communities" and it would bring up the relevant wiki page inside Lemmy.
  This also fits with what I was pondering on Threadiverse community alternatives to subs. There are a few sites that went up with the first Rexxit but they are no longer maintained and it would be better done in a wiki.
  My thinking was that Lemmy instances could have their own Ibis instance that would include a page for each community named "c/community". So we'd have:
  wiki.feddit.uk/c/privacy
  And elsewhere you'd have:
  wiki.lemmy.world/c/privacy wiki.lemmy.ml/c/privacy
  And these could then be linked in from both:
  ibis.wiki/sub_alternatives ibis.wiki/threadiverse_privacy
  Nail down your naming structure early on and it should go smoothly, with wikis being flexible enough to allow changes to be made if we needed to tweak things.
  It is one of the reasons why I asked @nutomic@lemmy.ml about being able to log into Iris with your Lemmy account, because you could closely integrate Lemmy and Ibis, especially now it federates (no point in having two accounts).

  Well until some collaborative function arrives, I'll scan communities posted on advertising communities and invite people to communicate to me their community and its categories. Taking advice for new sub-feeds and reorganisation in here, or indeed, on a hypothetical matrix room.

  While I doubt Fediverse wikis will replace Wikipedia, it can definitely take on wikis/fandom but, as mentioned, it can also act as the kind of wikis subs have. So you might have:
  "c/community/faqs" "c/community/archive" "c/community/tutorials" "c/community/resources" "c/community/recommendations"
  Depending on their needs - meme communities might not need much, while computing, privacy, etc might want quite a few to add in useful information and links that might otherwise get buried.
