  • It's sad. I remember road trip vacations to the US when I was a child. Pretty sure we didn't have passports. We'd reach the border, spend a few minutes answering questions, they'd check drivers' licenses and license plates. That was it. I remember one time we reached the border and dad remembered we'd picked up some oranges along with our travel supplies, and there was a thing about not bringing citrus fruit across. He told the border guard, the guard asked us to hand over the oranges, and that was it. They never searched our stuff.

    IMO one of the major reasons Americans are like they are is the lack of experience travelling to other countries. I hope that doesn't start to become a problem for Canadians, given that America is by far the most convenient and inexpensive country to visit for most of us.
