Mods for /c/conservative on both Lemmy.world and Lemm.ee have been removed!

tl;dr for lemm.ee:

In short, somebody posted a pro-Elon-Musk-doing-a-nazi-salute Valentine's Day meme and the mods left it up so people started complaining in other communities and the admins realized "you know, we never see reports from our instance's most controversial community" because the mods were quick to act leaving everything up. So the original salute poster was banned and all the mods were dethroned as the admins are taking a wait-and-see approach on what to do with the community.

I haven't found a comment about what happened at .world yet but there are zero mods for their community too.

Normally I would remove this is off-topic and better fitting in fedilore, but since it technically involves a instance admin taking action, it's close enough. But please follow the posting guidelines next time.

I got banned on lemm.ee conservative community for posting a crypto scam. I mean, yeah it was a scam but it was also the official trump and melania scam coins.
- So.... I was the one who removed that post. Just due to it technically promoting a crypto scam, even if a joke.
  Community mod banned you though. So hey, if you wanted to be unbanned, consider it granted I guess.

As the so-called conservative movement continues its transformation into fascism, this will escalate the conflict between inclusiveness and ideals of free speech.
Even as someone who is more pro-free speech than most Lemmy users, I’m glad endorsing sieg heils is still beyond the rubicon on Lemmy.

I heard the mods on the lemm.ee one were dismissing reports to protect the posts and users who were rightfully reported. So they deserve it, and it was probably the best thing that could've been done, second to banning the community outright of course.
The one on Lemmy.world was probably a very similar story, and if I remember right that community was nothing but trolling and occasional bigotry. As are most conservative communities on the Fediverse.

Regarding the .world community: The mods were not actively tending the community. Reports were piling up and not being resolved. Messages were sent to the mods requesting them to reengage, but nothing changed. So the mods were removed while the .world team looks for possible replacements.
The mods at !conservative@sh.itjust.works also look like they have left Lemmy.
If anyone seriously feels like moderating a conservative community (without burning it to the ground for teh lulz) there are plenty of job openings.
- I'd be interested in moderating it to allow a differing option while removing gross misinformation.

  You’re a better person than me. It would be nice to have a spot where people are allowed to pierce the right wing internet bubble without bans, but that will probably drive away the actual ~~reactionaries~~ conservatives.

  I try to engage with the right as much as possible but the brain rot has escalated to the point where we are living in two different Americas.

- The problem is you would then become a target for everyone who just wants to be rude to a conservative regardless of whether that's your actual point of view.

The conservative community on Lemmy.World is straight up just trolling, and not entirely just for conservative conversations.
- Some people make memes out of Alex Jones, but all that accomplishes is normalizing that kind of behavior and giving people like him free cover behind humor. Dan and Jordan at Knowledge Fight have talked about the harms of turning people like him into seemingly harmless clowns.
  Satirizing and making fun of people is one thing, but at some point, you need to recognize when the net effect becomes simply spreading their propaganda for free.
  (When I say "you," I mean in the general sense.)

This is what makes Lemmy so great. Reddit won’t remove mods for…reasons. Same three fuckers running like 75% of the damn site.

I don't get it, maybe there's more history of the c/conservative mods power tripping?
Only knowing what I've read in this post, mods doing nothing seems to me to be the opposite of power tripping?
- Wintermute_oregon was the main mod. There was some other guy who hasn't posted in over a year I think and a bot account so that left all mod decisions to wmo. This mod constantly would get into fights and ban the other person for winning, he had no patience for democratic viewpoints at all claiming they're the woke mind virus, asking questions could get you banned and the next day he'd comment about how nobody wants a real discussion. He was sensitive and actively wielding power. A true snowflake.
  It's ironic the choice that cost him his position is a choice to do nothing, except that it was a very active nothing. He could handle reports faster than instance admins could see them so none of the reports were even seen by anybody but him and nobody complained too loud because Lemmy is liberal enough to leave the community nearly untouched save for a half dozen or so accounts spamming pro-Trump, anti-democrat articles with By Lines saying they were written by Tyler Durden (the narrator's imaginary friend in Fight Club). If you weren't praising Trump, you wouldn't be welcome back.
  This was a shit show but now the mod has been taken out of town on a rail.

  Wouldn't it be expected to have pro Trump (or as you say, anti Democrat) articles posted to a community explicitly created for discussion of conservative issues?
  Zero hedge is an outlet known for right leaning economic policy, I don't place much trust in their content, but sometimes it's an interesting data point.
  I'm not a Trump (or Republican) voter, but in the few times I clicked on a link posted in c/conservative I didn't see any actual conservative or right leaning comments. Just a deluge of down votes and negative commentary attempting to dunk on a seemingly missing conservative adversary.
  In fact, and I'm not exaggerating here, I never see any comments right of center in my feed, in any community on Lemmy (I view through the lens of LW).
  Maybe I have stuff blocked so I don't see right leaning user's content?

The lemm.ee admins are the real ~~racists~~ powertrippers, though!

To be fair, though. Wasn't the Musk "my heart goes out to you" valentine actually a Daily Show joke thing? I can see it easily being appropriated by conservatives... but was that what was actually happening?
