Wow, we're losing allies left and right... Ok predominantly Left, but I can't really blame them.

Removing authority complicates trust. I can definitely imagine a group in West Virginia or wherever giving themselves an overly patriotic name and claiming there have been next to no instances of police violence because they nitpick what should be counted. They already started doing this with school shootings.

Because it's called "Fox News." But I agree, it's vile and we shouldn't talk about it.

This comes off as less "conservative" and more "fascist" just so you know later when you're banned for posting fascist slop.

Wintermute_oregon was the main mod. There was some other guy who hasn't posted in over a year I think and a bot account so that left all mod decisions to wmo. This mod constantly would get into fights and ban the other person for winning, he had no patience for democratic viewpoints at all claiming they're the woke mind virus, asking questions could get you banned and the next day he'd comment about how nobody wants a real discussion. He was sensitive and actively wielding power. A true snowflake.

It's ironic the choice that cost him his position is a choice to do nothing, except that it was a very active nothing. He could handle reports faster than instance admins could see them so none of the reports were even seen by anybody but him and nobody complained too loud because Lemmy is liberal enough to leave the community nearly untouched save for a half dozen or so accounts spamming pro-Trump, anti-democrat articles with By Lines saying they were written by Tyler Durden (the narrator's imaginary friend in Fight Club). If you weren't praising Trump, you wouldn't be welcome back.

This was a shit show but now the mod has been taken out of town on a rail.

If this community is going to continue to exist, memes like this may need to be reworded. The old community was a fount of bad faith and it's easy to respond to bad faith with more of the same but moving forward we probably need less call outs and more discussion, less finger pointing and more understanding.

Last week's mods didn't want that. Their goal seemed to be (and this is the best faith I can put on the situation) the representation of under represented viewpoints, i.e. conservative viewpoints. Unfortunately that resulted in an extremely useless echo chamber full of circle jerking, JAQing off, bootlicking, whataboutism, and sealioning.

I can't tell you how excited I am about these mods having their power taken away, but we can't replace them with the same divisive tactics and say anything has improved.

In short, somebody posted a pro-Elon-Musk-doing-a-nazi-salute Valentine's Day meme and the mods left it up so people started complaining in other communities and the admins realized "you know, we never see reports from our instance's most controversial community" because the mods were quick to act leaving everything up. So the original salute poster was banned and all the mods were dethroned as the admins are taking a wait-and-see approach on what to do with the community.

I've been anti-Nazi and anti-fascist in all my comments. They keep defending conservativism. Something tells me they believe conservative = Nazi, but as usual they're projecting hard.

Being/Acting christian is not a requirement, it'll get you fired I'm sure. But being labeled one is.

I'm done entertaining you. Conservative communities on multiple instances are some of the most downvoted places in all of Lemmy because of their absolute refusal to be open minded in the face of actual Nazi-ism and fascism. Any such place should be unwelcome anywhere.

I think any place can be improved by the removal of Nazis and fascists.

Stop putting words in my mouth. This is the bad faith this community is known for.
