  • VLC includes all codecs it needs internally to play DVD's. If VLC is not playing DVD's, there's something else wrong with your system.

    You might also try MPV player.

  • VLC if you just want to watch it, MakeMKV/Handbrake if you want to rip it to a file.

    VLC does have the codecs included, you're likely just not opening it properly.

  • VLC should just work with everything needed to play DVDs. Like other commenters are saying there's probably something else wrong if VLC isn't working to play your DVDs.

  • K-lite codec packs still work?

    Installing those should let you use your favorite media players to play anything, including dvd

  • Try running it through Handbrake?

    Failing that, it could be worth trying it in Linux. It's not too hard to spin up a VM, and libdvdcss would have the codecs you need.
