To celebrate I'm going to attack more jasmine. Then dins with the fam (w/ bro / SIL oh no). P's are heading off early to Qld tm morning so just doing Indian takeaway. They have a nice dining room so it seems silly to go out. 5 of us and the local Indian takeaway joint does a good deal for 4 for $99. Bro and SIL are getting half portions.
There is something blackly hilarious about how many vegans are insisting they should be able to feed a cat vegan diets if they really really want to. (Blowup in outoftheloop)
Um, we're having TWO Thursdays this week? Does that mean 2 paydays????? Please please let this be true. Or is this a fiendish plot to prevent our Friday overindulgences?
Meant to be another after work drinks put on tonight but I am too knackered for twice in a row. This place is going to turn me into more of alcoholic than I already am
I have done everything to not have to buy disposable vapes, but the run around and scams with the doctors and pharmacies is an absolute joke.
First you have to pay 90ish bucks for a script, which only allows you to use it at the chemist they are linked to. So every doctor has basically started their own little chemist to dispense the products.
And so if they happen to run out of stock, we'll, you need to pay for another script so you can access the product at another pharmacy/store.
Meanwhile, I've seen more cigarette smokers in the last few weeks, than I've seen in years. And that's not hyperbole.
Everyone is buying disposables, because the system that the government set up is an absolute sham.
So now I'm risking buying stuff from overseas that might get seized at border control, because the disposables are really fucking bad for you. They affect your breathing in a negative way almost instantly.
I've tried the patches, the inhaler, even the medicine. It didn't work for me, because it's really hard to quit something you've been taking for over 20 years on a daily basis.
The chilling time before rolling out was a bit too long I think, the dough was a bit too hard initially. The embossed roller worked fairly well, but I could probably use some practice to get it a bit more even. I also played around with a bunch of different cutters so have a variety of biscuit shapes and sizes - I'll pick the nicest looking to take to work tomorrow and the rest will be snacks for me.
I'm also taking advantage of the oven being hot to make pizza for dinner.
Long day but much more satisfied today and got a wee bit of walking in... plus my favourite aunt confirmed she WILL be available when I want to go see her after all - so I have something to look forward to at the end of September!! Yay! That's really lifted my mood ๐ฅฐ
I managed to sleep well after feeling like crapola yesterday night, and crucially, got out of bed at 7:30 instead of lolling about... got to work early to sit down and eat a proper breakfast ๐ฝ
Today's wordle was mean, I had to give up and use a solver.
Alright, time to crack on. The sun outside is delightful but bom says more wind tonight... and over the weekend.... meh.
Operation sort shit is going well. I have been getting rid of stuff and now have empty gaps and nothing that needs to go into them, which as a previously over-cluttered person (aka recovering hoarder) is not something I am used to experiencing. I'm doing lots of labeling today, as well as attaching a bunch of little stick-on drawers to the bottom of some of my shelves to hold smaller bits of stationery and sewing supplies. I really should do an op shop run too, the collection of stuff to go is getting quite large.
How can a fence builder get it so wrong? Our front fence failed footing and final inspection - the posts are higher than the plan, and the concrete pads donโt go deep enough into the holes. Weโre at a lossโฆ
I've finally made it to a local show and I'm surprised how few people are here. I must still be tapped into the Australian metal scene that I can go to a sore that's a big deal to me and it's still half empty by the end of the second last band
Alas sleep was not had - I was finally drifting off when Zooks hopped up for snuggles and Feed Me, Bitch demands.
I'm doing the zombie shuffle at the moment so I'll just take it easy today and try and get a nap in before tonight's social thing.
I ended up putting a box in front of my door so it would stop flinging open (yay uneven floors), and ended up getting a decent enough sleep. Woke up at midnight with all the wind, bloody hell it was rough, couldn't get back to sleep for about an hour
I heard the bin man collect a bin, I sure I hope the others didn't blow over...
Got woken up by the wind blowing a gale and remembered the cats' fuzzy bed was still on the line, so dashed out to retrieve it.
Just as well as the side door to the garage had blown open.
Back to bed, hopefully to sleep...
I had it in my head that all of the Victorian Carl's Jr location closed immediately a few weeks ago but apparently only a couple of locations closed and Melton remains alive.
Got breakfast from there for one last time because I didn't think I'd get to again. It was meh. It can die now.
How's our no snacks after tea (nsat) gang going? Getting a better sleep? The fucking wind not helping. Give it some time and you should be sleeping better.
Bad news about the doors confirmed. They can't temporarily install my old door handle or lock onto this new door because it doesn't meet modern fire safety requirements. Apparently the new locks will be the same locks we had in Resi - a simple latch that can be very easily opened, and they're going to place a metal plate over it to prevent people slipping cards or things to open the lock from the outside
I guess that's a solution, but it feels like yet another step towards making the house feel exactly like the place I was at before. I guess on the bright side, I'm only 6 months away from turning 18. Once I do that, I can GTFO if I want, although practically I'm almost forced to stay for another 6-12 months until I can move elsewhere.
I suspect once the opportunity to book hotel rooms opens up, I'll take a lot more spontaneous Mildura or Adelaide trips
The door man got back in at 8 to start sawing some wood and started ripping out the rest of the doors at 9.
We also have sparkles here now, because apparently our house has light switches on some door frames, which means old mate can't just take a crowbar to it like he did the others, so they called sparkies to come relocate them.
Sometimes I look at the decisions these guys make and wonder why their pockets are so deep, yet they insisted on pinching every single penny when that kid moved in which blew all of this up in the first place. Certainly an expensive mistake. Expect a moderate increase in your taxes next year ๐
Day off work which meant errands and housekeeping.
Didn't sit down to chill until like 2 pm with the new Star Wars Outlaws game....super fun but a tad clunky. Reminds me of the OG Watch dogs in a way.
Overall 8/10 day
-2 points for the old lady at medical clinic that insisted she be the first in line for a blood test. I was there early...took #1 and waited patiently. She was 3rd and was adamant I should give her the first slot.
Sorry sister. No dice.
My test took like 5 minutes tops and the nurse took me in early...so technically the old lady had hers like 5 past 9.
I bought so many albums. Didn't love Ryan's Daughter, by Jarre no less, not his best work. You younguns might know him from Lawrence of Arabia . It's unforgettable https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdFwhhH2x7I
And right now I am listening to Western Movie Themes by Starlight Orchestra, Japanese pressing so I cant read any of the notes. track 2 De Guello ( I love this album!! ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AR-KbvXvBd8
There's an ice cream/lolly shop here called Cones & Candy and that is the most Melton thing ever. No pretence of it being anything but a blatant euphemism for recreational drugs. The Birdcage (the part of Melton the shop is) knows what it is, and it isn't hiding it.
I took a photo as I was packing up the puzzle carefully for the opshop. You can see I put it away still made up. There were ten panels like this. The picture was the painting "The Quarrel of Oberon and Titania"
