I have a hitch that the reason they don't want to give security guarantees is to not only please Putin, who wants to take us back to the era of territorial conquests, but also to use it even more as a leverage against Ukraine. You can just force them to do away with every job safety, to sell of their health care and transform it into the same horrible mess the US has, to dismantle their education system for cheap labor for the mines, or else the tanks are going in the country and Ukrainians will get tortured to death again for not speaking Russian.

While communicating this to the constituency: "my people, it is not a tram or a trolley as in other such trolley problems, it is just a lever that I must pull for the benefit of akk of our futures. It comes with great savings an a satisfying crunch!"

  When did I ray anything of the sort? I can't help but see this as a bad faith attempt of character assassination. I think an apology is in order.

This war wouldn't be a thing if a) Russia didn't annex Crimea, b) Russia didn't send "totally not Russian troops" into Donbas and c) Russia didn't do a full invasion of Ukraine. Not to mention this war would be over tomorrow if Putin withdrew his troops.

  Putin is a geriatric, history-revising madman who thinks he should be the tzar of the Soviet Union. He has been an autocrat for too long, has had only yes-men around him for more than two decades, and his head is simply too far up his ass. He has lost all grasp on reality.
