- [MOD] ❄️📌c/PixelDungeon News, December 2023! 📌❄️
Hey Rat Punchers, and welcome to the first c/PixelDungeon community newspost and spotlight! These posts summarize community events over the last few months, and provide a good starting point for new readers.
If you're new here, welcome! c/PixelDungeon is a place to talk strategies, tell stories, or discuss anything related to Pixel Dungeon or its many versions. Recent News
Although this is c/Pixeldungeon's first newspost, it's the 11th one in total. The prior 10 posts were on our previous community on Reddit. That really does set the tone doesn't it? c/Pixeldungeon has come into existance as a new place for the pixel dungeon subreddit community, hosted by a platform that will hopefully be less abusive to its users.
After some initial turbulence relating to uptime and new registrations on lemmy.world, c/pixeldungeon now seems to have settled into a steady cadence of about 2-3 new posts a day. While I'd certainly like for us to one day get as big as r/pixeldungeon was, I think this is a great start. We've off the ground, and hopefully can continue maintaining and growing from here.
One thing I've been very happy to see is a strong presence from Pixel Dungeon developers! While I've been trying to make weekly posts of my own, there have also been dev announcements from both new and long-standing developers. Even if you ignore my posts, we're already doing quite well on that front I think. As for general activity, this newspost is a start, but I'll be seeing about making some megathreads soon to encourage more participation. In the meantime though, here are some of the best posts made in the last few months:

- ⚔️ How do I escape my own stupidness?
So yeah I unknowingly choose the Assassin's Blade instead of Stone Gauntlet +7 hoping that I can blink around and get invisible while searching my bag. Now I just realized the invisibility duration scale along with my Stone Gauntlet +7 upgrades. Now that my blade doesn't have any upgrade, the invisibility only last 2 turn 🥲
- Recovering seed of a run after it ends
Say I was having a great run, when (as usual) made a mistake and ended up dead. I'd like to try again, but didn't save the seed. Is there a way to recover it?
- It bugs me when there is an obvious path forward, but a single undiscovered tile (or a trap) causes my character to take a path all the way around the level. Share your ideas for fixes.
Perhaps let players configure some number such that the game will never plot a path for your character longer than that without first getting your confirmation.
"The path you've chosen is longer than N steps, are you sure?"
And then I also feel this needs to be very easily toggleable. Like a persistent UI button. I'd have it on when exploring and off when backtracking, and those two activities are back and forth all game.
Relevant screenshot below. The entire level is explored, and this damn piece of grass sent my character haywire then I trapped at the X. This kind of thing has happened to me on much later levels and messed me up good.
In the Depths, I would set this number to something like 2 for safety. I can't count how many times a misstap has gotten me zapped, chased, and then pincer-attacked by some second enemy in the room behind me. But then I'd want to toggle it off to run back to an alchemy pot or whatever.
- Suggestion: Shopkeeper change
As many of you know, any kind of damage to a shopkeeper makes him close shop in an instant. Accidents happen, and this can be very hard. Especially losing access to critical items such as a bag.
So here's my suggestion, shopkeeper just gets angry and raise prices by x3 of his normal price. This will gradually drop down to his normal price range.
It gives you more options, feeling the punishment of getting really high prices, or sacrifice some turns (100-200 turns), coming back later. Either way it's a lesson learned not to fight near the shopkeeper, but it's at least still possible to get a critical item such as a bag.
- SPD +16 Warhammer
Is there any way to analyze a seed? What happens is that on Reddit there is a person claiming to have found a hammer at level 16, but is this possible for an enemy to drop it? In addition to the fact that he mentioned finding it on floor 2... the seed he said to use was LTX-SVY-ZDQ In version 2.4.0
- Shocking Sword Chased Away Shopkeep
This is in Shattered Pixel Dungeon. Went into the shop after getting enough money to buy the Ankh and was followed by a bat. Without paying attention I fought the bat and my shocking sword's ability went off twice, bouncing into the shopkeep and making him leave. Maybe I'm just a bit salty and it's my fault for not paying attention to the first hit/warning from the shopkeep, but I don't think the shocking sword enchantment should threaten the shopkeep like that.

Hey Dungeoneers, Shattered v2.4.0 has been released!
v2.4.0 features a new category of item: trinkets! They are more about tweaking gameplay variables than giving direct power or utility. There are also a bunch of smaller additions and tweaks, most notably to the Duelist and to Alchemy. Be sure to check the changes screen for full details.
- Enemies Spawning On or Phasing Through Traps?
Sadly I have no receipts, but I have noticed instances of enemies that are asleep spawning on the same tile that traps are on. Is this intentional? Additionally, I was in a fire trap room in the sewers and a rat ran at me, I one shot it with ranger bow, and when it dropped coins on death it triggered a fire trap it was on. I don't believe it spawned there, so I don't think it triggered the trap when it ran over it. Has this happened to anyone else?
- Pie Usefullness?
On average, does crafting the pie increase the total amount of satiety you have, or do you trade overall satiety for the faster health Regen?
- Do you miss any features from original PD?
Played YAPD a bit recently and made me think about this. What features from the original PD or one of its other forks do you wish were in Shattered?
- SPD 2.4.0 Double Ring of Wealth
ZNW-EJO-UFT
Great seed for testing a few trinkets.
Floors. 2) RoW +2 (locked chest), cursed RoW +2 (chest) 3) leather armor +3 (chest)

- Is the pitfall trap too OP?
I've played almost 100 runs, and two of them have been ended by a pitfall trap. On one hand, its existence helps keep SPD a punishing, unforgiving game in the Rogue-like tradition, but on the other, instant death is always frustrating. What are others' opinions?
- I hate looking for gold in the caves
It's by far the part of the game I like the least... there's always a couple of gold nuggets I can't seem to find. It's boring, and also frustrating to see my food supply dwindle.
- Huge floors
Do you know any mod or variant that has very big floors? It's bugs my curiosity if playing such a game would be intersting.
I was also thinking how would it be that instead of 5 floors there would be one floor with the size of all 5? It would probably hurt some game mechanics such as the chasm, but maybe give opportunities for other mechanivs such as portals.
What do you think?
- I didn't even get a thank you!
I mined out every bit of gold in the ENTIRE dungeon and didn't even get a thanks. Wow, troll blacksmith, just wow. I expect a public apology, bring out the ukulele.
- [DEV] Shattered v2.4 Releasing Soon!
Hey rat punchers, Shattered Pixel Dungeon v2.4.0 is going to be releasing to everyone around the middle of this coming week!
The v2.4.0 beta now contains 11 trinkets total, with 3 recent additions: the mimic tooth, wondrous resin, and eye of newt. I think 11 is a good place to start, but there's lots of room to add more in the future as well!
- Finally managed to get an ascension with all upgrades in the staff
Battlemage with the Staff of Corruption becomes absurdly fun on high levels. The only issue is survival without tough armor.
- The only Monarch I support

> The only Monarch I support
- I really like the new entrance/exit room styles but...
...the placement of these stairs really cracks me up.
- Won once with each hero
I've managed to win once with each hero!
From my limited experience, I'd say the rogue was the easiest to win with. Still, a lot depends on getting the right equipment, and not making any mistakes.
Interestingly, I've only played once with the rogue and the warrior, and a handful of times with the mage and duelist. Most of my games have been with the huntress, which remains my favorite hero.
- You want super OP? I'll give you super OP
This run was challenging at first because the food was scarce, but once the ring of arcana came around it was a piece of cake (+4 from ambitious imp)
Edit: Bow is also grim bow
- Where is ShatteredPD savedata in Android located?
I looked into android/data/com.shatteredpixel.shatteredpixeldungeon/files but it is empty
- All badges
Taken about 2 years but finally got all badges. Grandmaster score chaser was the hardest one for me. Had to complete with 7 challenges to get it. Doom slayer was tough too but when I got the right build I absolutely smashed yog for it.
- Weird effects happening in Shattered 2.4.0-BETA-2
Curious if anyone else is experiencing random effects happening to their character in combat during this beta. My character has been rooted, set on fire twice, frozen and and blinded while I'm fighting. It's pretty random when it happens. It has happened while fighting toe-to-toe with Monk, Golem and Warlock and maybe others but those are so far the ones I've seen since I started paying attention. I have cursed armor of overgrowth but nothing else is cursed. I don't know why I would spontaneously burst into flames while fighting a monk or becoming frozen when punching a golem in it's face.
I do have a Sundial +3 in my possession but that shouldn't make any difference but since it's new to the game I thought it worth mentioning.
Anyone else seeing this?
- [DEV] CloverPD v2.3.2.2
https://github.com/sethoscope/clover-pixel-dungeon/releases/
Hello! I have a modest little fork of ShatteredPD with some additions my kid and I thought up. No great vision here, just a lot of "hey, <X> would be fun" and then we work on the art and design together and I do the coding. Snail posted about it a while back, but I just added something new, so I thought I'd make an account and say hi.
Here's what it's got:
- a wand of anti-magic, which temporarily suppresses a target's magical abilities;
- a flying carpet artifact, for flying over terrain at high speed;
- a Forgetful challenge, which makes identification of potions and scrolls temporary;
- a Stone of Double Enchantment, which imbues a weapon with two enchantments simultaneously; and
- a rare Four-Leaf Clover plant, which gives loot-related luck when trampled.
The stone of double enchantment is the latest. Probably our least creative addition, but some of the enchantment combos lead to a lot of wackiness.
I'm good about integrating Evan's releases quickly because this is the version we play and we want all the great upstream stuff ASAP. :)
